Hi, all Integrated Science Program decisions have been released.

Previous classes of ISP are around 30.

Does anybody have any information on offers and number of applicants to NU ISP?

Any info would be great.

first thing that needs to be said, not everyone who starts as isp stays isp (like me and i believe 6 others have dropped or are definetly going to drop in my class so far). it really depends on whether it fits with what you want to do. Me, im premed, and unfortunately the classes you have to take freshman year are pretty hard, so if you can get A's in them, your good as a premed, but i couldnt handle the stress. also, its much more focused on physics and math, whereas im a bio person. what are ur plans, what are you interested in? its worth doing if it fits with what you want to do, but if not, then dont do it. its not easy. my class this year started out at 32, 8 girls and 24 guys. let me know what other info you want.
hope that helps =)

Thanks for the helpful info. Do you have an idea of how many isp students apply? I assume they offer 50 spots, since 30 matriculate. I am interested in math and chemistry, and environmental studies has been listed as my possible major.

Do ISP students take a bunch of classes together? I see it as kind of like the science honors program for NU. Do isp students do a lot of things and events together?

im sorry, i have no idea how many students apply, but I do know that they told me last year when i was applying that they have no limit to how many students they can take, they just take all the ones that they feel are qualified. at least thats what they said, so i wouldnt worry too much. i think isp students are self-selecting anyway, you have to be a certain type of person to apply in the first place. ISP students do take most their classes together, physics and calc are specifically ISP although there are a few kids in it that arents isp but are qualified for the class. theres also a computer programming class that you have to take which is a *****, especially since you work hard for it, and the grading is pass/fail. chemistry you take with general northwestern students, either accelerated chemistry (2 out of 3 quarters) or organic if you place out due to ap chem or the chem placement. isps do hang out together because we have the same classes, and although i was the first to drop out and change my classes, i still talk to and hang out with a couple of them. at the beginning of the year it was annoying because there were a few kids that were pretty arrogant and whatnot, but they did calm down as the year went on because after a certain point, no one had the advantage anymore.
let me know if you have other questions

so youre saying, they needed to chill?

lol yeah
but only a few kids
everyone else is fine

Hey, umm does anyone know if ISP admissions people look at your regular Northwestern application statement and essay?

I don't believe they do. The separate ISP application will be reviewed by the ISP administration since it targets the things they're most interested in - namely, passion for science and academic candidacy. So if there's anything you want the ISP selection committee to know about you, you'd be best to put it in the separate ISP application.

From past experience even if you dont express interest in ISP, NU appears to identify certain potential candidates from their apps and stats and will send them an email informing them of ISP and encouraging them to apply.

hey if I apply to ISP and HPME (medical pgrm), will they read the applications separately?
