Why does it say Late March on the portal?

That’s really late compared to previous years. The expected date was 16th March :-?

Isn’t 1st April an approximation? It’s by then, right? So it could be 16th?

@RDJfan28 I think so.

@shan0018 that could be at the latest. Also, I don’t believe they necessarily have to come out at the same time (it would be great if somebody from previous years knew), but that’s a guess. They may wait for both to be done, or they may just release independent of each other.

Based on what I’ve heard, which could be completely irrelevant as NU tends to do whatever they want, RD decisions will come out “Late March/Early April”. So, I have a feeling that March 16th is the earliest we can expect and April 1st is the latest based on the ISP website and past years.

Northwestern posts their release date as April 1st every year for decisions but it traditionally has been in mid March. Last few years was the closest Thurs around March 15 with everyone notified on the portal, email (and I guess letters or packets too - I don’t remember from 2016 when my son got in). And when I was accepted in the '80s it was also mid March by mail :slight_smile:

And good luck to everyone on Northwestern and all your college wish lists. Go Wildcats!

Next Thursday sounds like a plan. Check back with you all then!

Those of you applying to other elites already know this, but this is common. DS has 3 elite applications in (NW, Vandy, WashU) and all 3 say ‘by April 1st’, and all 3 have a history of releasing in March, sometimes by now. None of this gives any prediction as to what it will be this year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if most of these schools don’t announce by the end of next week (16th). I’m sure that there are variables each year as well … number of applicants, number of scholarships, etc. that make it impossible for them to commit to a specific date too early. I am sure they want to be done as soon as they can, but not at the expense of rushing it and making unfair, less informed decisions.

i got deferred ED. anybody want to wallow in self pity with me or make rejection memes when the time comes??

apparently, if you deferred ED, you have a really good chance in RD. they don’t defer a ton of people

@helpmeimstressed I’m always down to wallow in self pity (also deferred)

@helpmeimstressed @bken2018 Count me in. I ate 4 pints of ice cream within the day and the day after I was deferred, and wore pajamas to school for the next week. I am the queen of wallowing in self pity.

DEFERRED GANG WYAAA

I wanna give everyone who’s deferred a hug, we’ve been waiting so long, we really need some rewards, such as getting accepted

I got deferred from two other schools and am still waiting. Also I have my RD app to this school I’m painfully waiting for. Can I wallow with you guys?

I had 69 posts…69…hehe…lol

Ok I deserve to be rejected now.

I got deferred from another school and had applied RD way back in December and have been waiting ever since. Moreover, I gave my IB finals back in November and am done with high school so all I can do all day is think about where I’ll get in because I have nothing else to do. Can I wallow with you guys too? Netflix and food have been my only support since 2 months
