Could we not argue over this? Both are great schools with their own unique qualities.
@Faultystart it’s ok to have a little rivalry. When I went to UChicago 30 years ago the rivalry existed and it will continue into the future.
@allima happily my daughter isn’t applying to any school in order to “have fun” but to expand her mind. If you want “fun” go to Dave & Busters - it’ll cost you a lot less.
Anyone know when Decisions will come out???
@JBStillFlying - love the response re ‘fun’ - priceless!
- Your daughter is going to college, not you. Are you sure she doesn’t care about having fun? How would you know? It’s your daughter, not you…
- Northwestern has impeccable academics, and kids are, as you hope your daughter to also be doing, “expanding their mind.”
- Fun should still exist in a college environment. there’s a thing called balance (fortunately, northwestern knows how to balance academics & social life. northwestern values their academics first, but they aren’t miserable like the stereotype that exists at Uchi)
- Isn’t college confidential for students? not their parents?..
Both of the schools and many more are amazing. It’s all so personal. Congrats all! Hey UChic is awesome and unless you are there, taking classes and experiencing it right now ya really can’t say what is or isn’t fun and even if you are there what’s fun for one is boring for another so there…everyone is right…!!!Yeeha
D17 applied to both. It could have gone either way and she would have been very happy at NU. The school you will do well at is the school that likes you as much as you like it. That’s a GREAT match!
@Allima many posters are parents. It’s parents who started the forum. Please don’t start advocating for excluding groups. Not good.
And it’s my daughter who applied - to both schools - and who was accepted. It’s her choice to go to UChicago. She applied ED II but signed the agreement freely after conversing with parents and counselor. That’s why she will withdraw her application to NU - it’s a binding agreement. Perhaps you are unaware of that?
Good luck to you in the process - I know you were anxious about your acceptance to NU. I do hope you are accepted and that you have great choices and are able to attend your #1.
Does anyone know when the decisions come out? Something more specific then mid or late March. Thank you
Last year it looks like the results came out on 3/17/2016, so I think it is a safe assumption it will be a similar date this year.
@londondad
Thank you
It seems like Northwestern doesn’t notify students when decisions come out? Is this true, or will they tell us a few days in advance?
Does anyone know how we will be notified of our decisions? Is it an email, letter, or some sort of portal?
pretty sure ts a portal, also does NW send likely letters
Im pretty sure we get notified via email. My brother was accepted ED a few years ago and he found out via email… could be different for RD though, but since I haven’t received a portal login I am guessing it’s just an email.
An email.
I got in via ED in December and for us they sent us an email saying “your results are in the portal.” They gave you a link you clicked on it and bam.
However, usually the portal is up a day before they actually send the email, so some people logged in early to check.
Trying to analyze previous decision release dates…
March 17, 2016 (Thursday) (Week of March 14-18)
March 23, 2015 (Monday) (Monday after week of March 16-20)
March 20, 2014 (Thursday) (Week of March 17-21)
March 19, 2013 (Tuesday) (Week of March 18-22)
March 23, 2012 (Friday) (Week of March 19-23)
So I’m guessing this year’s will be out the earliest on the 17th of March (Friday), and the latest on the 23rd of March (Thursday)… so it’s either 17th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, or 23rd
This was kind of unnecessary but the wait is excruciating so I was like why not haha
Is anyone else nervous or is it just me? @-) 8-} :-S
same here!
