don't we have to wait and register at new student week? if you go to northwestern.edu/newstudentweek there's a schedule for transfer students, and there are certain days/times set up for advising periods

Sorry to confuse. For WCAS, they say "If it is convenient for you to come to campus before the quarter begins, see Richard Weimer, assistant dean in the Weinberg College Office of Undergraduate Studies to register for classes.

You can make an appointment by calling 847-491-7559. If you are not able to make the visit in advance, see the New Student Week schedule for WCAS transfer academic advising meetings."

That's why I was confused.

Yeah...I know that for schools other than WCAS, you're supposed to call the school and schedule an appointment w/ an adviser. I have my phone appt. on July 5 (I'm in the School of Communication), and I am so excited to choose classes! She also told me that advisers have the power to put transfers in some full classes, especially if we require them to fulfill distribution requirements. So...don't worry about not getting all of the classes you want! They'll try their best to make it happen! I.E. Public Speaking is a required freshman course...a course that most of us probably didn't take at our other schools. These tend to fill up really fast...seeing that most freshmen want to get it out of the way. AS a transfer student, advisers can squeeze us into these classes so we aren't too far behind.

Also, about the AP question....they told me to send my AP scores if NU doesn't have them. I know that with languages alone, getting a 3 will place you into a much higher level and will save you from taking placement exams. Unfortunately, I was told that you don't get the credit...you just get to finish your lang. requirement (it it pertains to your major) a lot faster than the norm.

How optimistic am I being to hope that there's a possibility we still get credit in WCAS? Or, if not credit, at least it satisfies distributionals?

It will satisfy distributionals. I'm not sure about credit in most areas of study...but I know that most APs as a transfer are merely used as placement guides. The same goes for a lot of the freshmen...unless you get the AP scores that give you credit. (in most subjects, this means a 5)

awesome, that's really the best I could ask for. I don't mean to sound like I'm not eager for school, I just happen to have certain subjects I'd very much not like to repeat, heh.

lol u def wont have to repeat them! how did ur transfer credit evaluation work out? they actually gave me credit for taking a ballroom dancing wellness course haha...they put it under General Ed.

I haven't gotten mine yet!! Where'd you get yours, online??

yeah! mine was sent in the mail..but go to ur caesar account...click for applicants in the left hand corner...and click View Transfer Credit Report! they accepted all of my classses...i'm assuming they'll do the same for u.

My Caeser still doesn't work. :(

I always get the "bea.jolt.ApplicationException: TPESVCFAIL - application level service failure" error.

don'tcareforthis, wow thanks, I wouldn't have noticed that link. In that case, my credeits transfered really nicely!! Heh, I guess I did get AP credit, because there's something called "gen_credit" that seems to not actually be associated with a class. oh well. at least nothing was wasted. Do you already know what classes you're asking for in your meeting, by the way, or are you asking advice? I'm having a hard time choosing.

I'm signing up for....Public Speaking (I know the professor who teaches this class...I'm actually working for him this summer - I leave for Northwestern Saturday!...and he wrote my rec...so I'm hoping for an easy A hahaha), Either Language Workshop or 3rd quarter intermediate Spanish, Elementary Logic (i'm gunna try to do a double in comm studies and philosophy...so elemtnary logic fulfills philo major and math requirement at the same time!), and then Performance Text Theory or something like that. It's a communication class about acting and such. I've done like 16 theatre productions...so i'm super stoked to be able to act in class! Others that I'm considering are Theories of Persuasion, Theories of Argumentation (both r required comm courses), Human Sexuality...sounds like fun haha, and maybe a writing course? Who knows? I'm just excited to see what my adviser has to say. True gibberish...r u on facebook? If so, u should join the transfers '06 group lol

ahhh john..that stinks. maybe you should contact their tech group. when i hated the way my new email turned out, they changed it. (jr is my suffix and they actually put that as my last name in my email...funny, huh?). i know they also do a lot of stuff w/ caesar. i'm not quite sure what the link is, but i'm sure u can find it on northwestern.edu.

johnm, have you activated your email and everything yet?

don'tcareforthis, I'm leaving for Northwestern today! My grandmother lives a good ten minutes away, so I'm staying with her for a week or so... see if I can find a place to stay for August, grab a job---actually get a clue for the area. Want to grab a coffee sometime when you get there? Yeah.. I'm on facebook, I'll try and find the group in a sec. Good way to avoid packing.

scratch that... I know why I didn't find it. I'm still on my old network.. I haven't registered under Northwestern yet. Maybe I'll take a good pic on campus and then be ready to make the switch.

my acceptance package says it's possible to pay the tuition deposit online. does anyone know the link??

its on caesar, i think under ebills and epayments.

yeah true gibberish! sounds good! PM me ur real name if u want...and ill search for u on facebook haha
