Northwestern Thread for Transfer Students

…I submitted mine weeks ago…how come i still haven’t gotten any emails about my application being complete? = =

I’ve been hearing horrendous things about their financial aid for transfers. Does anyone know what they exactly give us in the financial aid package considering one comes from a very low income family.

I’ve heard it’s nada

Where are you hearing this from? My transfer friends at NU are all satisfied with their aid; one of them is on full aid even.

Financial aid is awarded on the basis of need, but is dependent upon availability of funds. Northwestern Scholarship assistance is generally not available to transfer or returning adult students during their first year at the University. You will be notified of your financial aid award at the time of admission or shortly thereafter — as

You get loans and all that but no scholarship/grants i guess. thats from the site

I have been corresponding with the financial aid office and they did not say anything about transfer students not receiving aid. I would think they would have said something to me when I called with a few questions. They are really helpful and answer any questions that you have.

Well that’s what the website said. You will get your federal assistance but not school assistance it seems

Im hearing two sides for transfer financial aid

 1. you get jack ****
 2. if you truly need it you will get it

I think the word sticking on their website is “generally”

it leaves an opening so I am hoping for number 2 considering both parents are unemployed and my efc should come out to a few hundred dollars

Yea after reading that they don’t offer aid to first year transfer students, i did some research and it really seems they dont. I did a search and saw several threads that mentioned that for 2009 year, there was no aid allocated for transfer admits.
There goes my application, even if I got in I couldn’t go.

i wouldnt worry about it yet because i found a few people that still got financial aid as first year transfers

i emailed about transfer financial aid and this is what i got from them

“Thank you for your interest in Northwestern. While it is true that
our office is not always able to meet 100% of need for transfer
students in their first year at NU, we should be able to fully fund
students entering in the fall.”

that is great news! thanks for emailing them!

Has anyone received the email ending with:

Thank you for your interest in Northwestern University. We will notify you at the above e-mail address once your file is complete; we look forward to reviewing your application.

If so, when?

I wouldnt worry too much about the automated mails guys. I got the recieved app one, and the finished app and going to review, but I dont even have my sprign grades sent in yet, and likely wont for a while. I even told them in an email about my school not finishing finals till late may, though I did send in midterm reports but I dont think that influenced it. So I think those are computer generated and dont mean so much, if anythign call them and ask you app instead.

i guess rolling admissions doesn’t exactly mean what i thought it meant… a.k.a the earlier you submit your applications, the sooner you find out.

im pretty sure…i called and gave my name and info and she just said youre application is complete decisions will be sent out in 2-3 weeks, she seemed in rush though

Anyone else who applied to WCAS?
