Northwestern University Early Decision thread 2010

Legacy matters very little at NU.
You have to have the GPA, the SAT or ACT and the extracurriculars to make the cut.
Don’t get your hopes up with legacy.
It doesn’t work with the current competitive nature of admissions.

no one said we were “getting our hopes up” haha. im definitely not relying on my legacy to get me in because it wont single handedly do so. legacy at northwestern matters a little, and you’re right, you still need to be in the range of academic achievements. however, NU is fond of ED applicants who have legacy bc they think that the more generations a family has that went to NU, the more likely they will be to donate a lot of money. just saying…

I’m getting a job for the next nine months and during college for this!

why wont the days go by faster… haha

maybe wow?

also destroyer - you seem like an hp fan. didnt UC get the college that most looks like HW in a contest last yr? I think I saw it posted on the UC campus. did u look at the south side of town for college?

Ya UC looks just like it I hear. Thats the one thing I’m jealous of about UC and that their acceptance letter has a phoenix on it. Its on my top 2 colleges. NU and UC. Despite how humorous it is, I was really hoping for a college with fantastic Gothic architecture.

@idic5 I was trying ot abbrefiate what the f*** but it wouldnt let me haha. although wow would fit just as well.

twenty-two days?

I still can’t wait…

I ordered a NU sweatshirt and two purple NU shirts for good luck  They are so cute too!

It’s silly but is anyone else doing little things for good luck??

^hahaha some people on this site really make me laugh

^In a good way!

I guess it’s not really a good luck charm, but the guy who’s taking my wisdom teeth out is the head of the dentistry department at Northwestern’s hospital. haha. My dentist found out about my obsession and referred us to him. I don’t get them out until the 17th, though, so I’ll already know the decision next time I see him. I’m too scared to order a t-shirt. If I didn’t get in, I would want to slash my wrists every time I saw it.

same, im too scared to buy something from NU unless i already got in. I’d feel weird wearing them around if i go to a different college.
i do however, wear the shirt they gave me when i went for a visit. it was free so ill wear it haha

i think i have waited for a century. every time i receive an e-mail i got excited and then disappointed. this is much more torturing than to prepare for SAT test!

My best friend and I both applied ED to NU… Everytime we update our fb statuses we decided we are required to put the number of days until Dec 15 at the end of each status… Yeah. We’re weird like that :)

what will you do if your best friend gets in and you don’t…?

I have a similar situation.

hey! are u guys sure it is Dec 15th that we get the result? I’m going to apply for Duke and the deadline is Dec 15. therefore, should i send my application before or simply wait for the result and then decide?

yeah my two good friends also applied ED so we have a similar situation, but the they are a lot less anxious than i am haha

@sharonlqc123: From what I’ve heard we should find out a day or two (or even a week) before, so you should be okay to wait.

20 days! almost there but hopefully we get decisions earlier. Happy Thanksgiving!

happy thanksgiving everyone!
