Northwestern University Fall 2018 Transfer Applicants

Anyone getting anything yet?

I’m assuming that the people that have already heard back were either for sure in or for sure out, and the people on the “bubble” will hear back later

omg, no emails, means I would probably get a rejection.

does anyone know if the colleges (Weinberg, Bienen, Medill, etc) go in any particular order or if it’s all totally random?

Thanks people!!! Here’s my stats:
Application completed 3/27
Accepted to Weinberg
Currently: first-year at T-20, gpa 4.0
ACT: 34
HS GPA: 3.95

Hopefully some people will hear back this afternoon, too. My friend who also applied believes this wave might also come out Thursday & Friday?

Given the irregularity of when decisions came out this year, I believe anything could happen.

looks like the two acceptances are both from Weinberg?

I am so nervous right now, since I think we should get the majority of results today. I am in top15 LAC freshman. GPA 4.0, top3% in my class. Apply weinberg Econ major. SAT R390/W330/M800 I don’t know if I can get in, I hear that it is very competitive for NU econ

@pinghe21 i wouldn’t expect to get a decision today

I feel NU will release tomorrow? or next week?

Nothing for today.

Why would nu release some of the decision in the morning. This doesnt make any sense

Accepted to Weinberg this morning.
App finished way back in February
Currently on gap year (which I took following the completion of my freshman year at an LAC)
3.94 UW HS GPA
3.75 College GPA (w/commendation)
34 ACT and some pretty cool EC’s

35 ACT
3.66 College GPA (Honors);

  • All As and a B+ in my honors course (6 credits)
    Good Letters of recommendation
    Econ Major Applying to Weinberg

What do you guys think?

Hey! This is my first post (ever), but I’ve been lurking on here for awhile and just wanted to share my information in case it helps out anyone who is stressing as much as I was.

I was accepted to Northwestern as a freshman last year but committed to Georgetown. As you can tell, that decision didn’t necessarily work out the way I thought it would! Anyway, I submitted my transfer application in February, received my acceptance today at 11am, and I am PUMPED.

Stats (disclaimer: after going through the college application process, I can say with assurance that these are not make-it-or-break-its)
4.38 W GPA high school
4.0 GPA college
34 ACT

If anyone has any questions about my experience with NU or even GU, feel free to reach out! Looking forward to meeting everyone next year and wishing the best to everyone who is still waiting to hear back!

What were your reasons for transferring from Georgetown? I am a transfer student who applied to both Northwestern and Georgetown

@as3789 Could you share your major as well, please ?

@christina001 Sociology, but planning to switch!

@PLA312 This is going to sound like I’m pandering, but I really mean it when I say Georgetown is a fantastic school. I don’t at all regret my freshman experience simply because it showed me what I want out of my education/life. I also met so many amazing professors who became my mentors and ended up writing my letters of recommendation. There are also some awesome clubs here (I highly recommend the Farmers’ Market!). However, it really comes down to what you value, like I wanted greater emphasis on art and technology, which is what I wrote about in my transfer essays. The art and innovation culture isn’t super strong at Georgetown, but it’s definitely enough for a lot of people. There’s a stronger social justice vibe here, meaning more people are interested/involved in that type of activity. There’s also a thing called “the Georgetown bubble” and it basically refers to how students don’t really get off campus. For me, being part of the city is a huge deal and since I grew up in Chicago, I already have a foundation to build off of. I came to Georgetown wanting to join the Corp (a student-run, non-profit coalition of food vendors) and tour DC, but to be honest, choose a college based on the environment, not just the extracurriculars they have, because that’s what determines if you’ll actually take advantage of those opportunities. Sorry for the long post, but that’s the gist of why I’m transferring! If you end up having to choose between both, definitely ask me anything else. I know how hard the decision can be!

Is it bad if I haven’t heard back yet but applied to Weinberg? My nerves are killing me
