Thanks for responding to my other thread : )

Your grades look a lot like mine, and unfortunately, we both don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. I have stronger junior year stats, but you have better soph and fresh grades.

Your ECs look good for Weinberg, but did you apply Medill? You mentioned journalism on the other post, but I didn’t see any journalism ECs there. That may be a slight problem.

Otherwise, I wish you luck. We may be at the lower end of the spectrum, but hopefully it’s close enough for an admit decision.

I applied to Medill, but unfortunately, there are little journalistic opportunities in my area, unfortunately. Thats my real concern. I hope we get it too. Good luck :)

Waitlisting doesnt mean UC doesn’t want you - they just don’t have enough spots for you (not much consolation huh?).

Your GPA 3.75 and ACT of 33 are within range at NU. However, a few HS clubs are not typical of applicants that receive positive admissions outcomes at Northwestern. Essay responses and rec’s will likely be your determining factor, and IMO are more heavily weighted at elite schools, so if you wow’d them, you will have a decent chance.

Looks like you have applied to some other excellent schools, for which you have solid chances, so you shouldn’t fret the NU decision too much anyway. Best of luck!

Note: I would have suggested simply updating and posting your entire resume instead of requiring the responders to put together your stats from seperate postings. Just sayin’

From looking at collegeboard, it seems like you have a good chance, you’re in the higher end of the avg act, but it doesn’t seem like you have a lot of journalistic experience. Good luck though, please chance me… Lacking ecs?

I have a friend at Northwestern, but honestly his stats were much better in all but ECs where you might be level. Looking at your grades it seems like a concern for them may be workload. Your grades were solid and then started to slip a little and they may wonder if you can handle it. I think it’s a bit of a reach, but definitely doable if you have a really solid essay.

NU and UChicago look for different things in the essays. Although your essays might not be what UChicago is looking for, it might very well be the exact thing NU is looking for. Good luck, and have faith in yourself!

Classes my school offers. I was actually placed into them against my will because they fit into my schedule. My counselor messed up my Junior year schedule pretty badly so I had to change everything around.

Eh no offense but i would not see you getting into Uchicago or NW (id say you have like a 25% chance at both)

A downward trend with increased workload shows the colleges that you are fine with a high school level workload, but not a college level workload.
Test scores and ECs are fine, maybe NW will love ur essays :)
