<p>Applying to Bienen piano n dual degree with communication skl…pretty confident i’ll d ok in audition, hopefully grades are ok too…Do you guys know if the indicated 2nd interest/instrument is considered (diversity of students, right?) as well or not?</p>
<p>Relative to this discussion, and academic standards in particular, my daughter and I recently attended a music school fair with all top programs in attendance. I had the chance to talk to admission directors from several of the tougher academic admits mentioned in this thread and the responses were all in the same general area: get at least a 26 on your ACT (with a 3.6 uw GPA) to get into our music program, and don’t assume you can’t make it even if your 23-24. They all indicated the “tough” part at their school was the audition. That was for music major only - double major probably raises the stakes at the top U’s.</p>
<p>Double major is definitely harder…but mine is Dual Degree, which means the admission processes are independent at each department. If I get into Bienen, I will get into Northwestern. If I get into the School of Communication only, I’m still in. Or even both. That’s the information I got from NU ;)</p>
