Not able to put weighted GPA?

I've been looking all over for an answer to this. I have already turned in my application, but I was wondering what you guys thought.

Around here, they always tell you to put your best GPA on your application, which is my weighted. I was filling out an application and it had a weighted GPA "converter" which changed your unweighted to a weighted I guess so it put everyone on the same playing field maybe?
Anyways, it calculated mine as above a 4.0, and when I tried to put it into the application, it said I couldn't go higher than a 4. My unweighted is around 3.75 something. I just put in 4. Do you think that was ok to do? I think it was because it weighed it for me, and came out with a 4.0+. Feedback appreciated.

Don’t worry about it. You tried to put weighted and put highest you were allowed to do even if weighted. What you put on app won’t even be used for determining admission, your official transcript will.

Hm, that’s interesting. Most colleges ask for a student’s unweighted GPA. I would call admissions just to make sure there wasn’t any confusion.

You’re sure they were looking for weighted? If the app only allowed a 4.0 then they were looking for UW. It sounds like the converter was to convert things from weighted to UW.

Thanks for replying.
drusba-thanks, that’s what I was hoping to hear.
I’ve already been accepted, but I’m pretty sure it was fine to do that. I looked at my app after I wrote this. Go figure.
aspire-that isn’t a bad idea.
ED-nope, it said to weighted. here’s what the app said-
Do not estimate. Please be sure to report your GPA on a 4-point scale.
If your school provides more than one GPA (e.g., weighted GPA and
non-weighted GPA), please use the best GPA. If your school does not
calculate or report GPA, leave the box below blank.
Erm…a little contradicting it seems, don’t you think? It says use the best, but then it says on a 4 pt scale. I think it’ll be ok, especially since my GPA will change again by the end of the year. They didn’t ask for a transcript yet anyways.
