Is there any particular reason for this trend of ‘waves.’

If I remember correctly from last year… the waves come in about every 3-4 days…

Honestly I have no idea about the trend of ‘waves’. Might have something to do with how they sorted out the applications, or it might be just random… not sure.

oh i see. thank you junshik !

Sigh. I know of four people who’ve already gotten in at my school, and every one of them has a 2200+ SAT. Haven’t heard of any rejections yet. But it does seem like UCI is giving out acceptances to those who are highly qualified and have excellent GPAs and test scores. Thing is, none of the four students even want to go to Irvine. Typical -_-

My son noticed that the people at his school had last names early on in the alphabet. They also were strong students. Could it be that they are by school/major as well?

it’s not early in the alphabet. there were 2 at my school that got accepted with “kim”

my best bud got in with a 3.7 UC gpa and a 2320 sat

Two friends of mine got in; one with a 4.5 GPA (ELC) and 1990 SAT and the other with a 3.9 GPA and 29 ACT. They were notified on the 3rd. Tens of other more wildly skilled applicants in my classes are still awaiting their notification.

There does not seem to be any trend in accpetances at my school, athough the posts in the accepted threat do boast some pretty exceptional stats.

I’m going to be a neurotic mess until my email comes.

So if the trend was around 3-4 days… that would make this Sunday (2/7) or Monday (2/8) wave number three. However, 3 of my friends found out they got accepted into UCI during on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning which is inconsistent with the wave theory because it is between waves 1 and 2.

I wish I got mine. =( I am so nervous…

Maybe it’s just ELC’s. I got accepted on the 3rd and I’m ELC, and I was originally notified in the summer. They probably just sent it to us because we already knew we’re in.

No, I know a person who got in, who was not elc.

I am definitely not ELC and I got in. The trend seems to be high stat applicants but that’s just from the CC sample and people I know. Who knows?

When your decision comes out doesn’t depend on your ELC status.

What happens is UCI releases decisions when they get to your application. Whenever your decision is released depends on where in the pile it lays.

Your major also plays a role in when your decisions is released, as it ties in with the above. Each individual college within UCI is responsible for their own admissions. Therefore, the colleges with the popular majors (like bio and engineering) have much more applications to go through. If your application happens to be at the bottom of this pile, then your decision will be released later than others.

But again, when your decision comes out doesn’t have anything to do with the decision itself. If you didn’t get your decision yet, don’t worry, it doesn’t mean that you definitely got rejected.

Hope this helps! :)

Yes, that makes some sense. Thanks! It is a stressful time for students and parents!
let’s stay positive!

I HATE WAITING…I keep checkin my stuff every 2 hours LOL

That’s nothing. I check my smartphone during class every ten minutes haha.

thanks r31ncarnat3d
that really helped. but does anyone know when the next “wave” is coming out?

wait so the UCs are still making decisions? theyre not done with all the applications?

When are your SIR’s due?

I remember last year, I got accepted to UCSD pretty late. I think it was close to the SIR due date.
