The reaction of the UK goverment to the terrorist plot is a typical reaction of goverments around the world. This comes as no surprise since Al Queda usually prefers people to operate "In Cognito" around the world. It makes perfect sense for Al Queda to hire professionals such as doctors and to some degree foreign students where they can blend with the population with ease. They are not easy targets by authorities. I believe it's just a matter of time before another terrorist plot is orchestrated by foreign students. I hope i'm proven wrong. Osama Bin Laden is an engineer himself and his top deputy is a doctor. If this would've been orchestrated by foreign students, imagine what would've been the reaction of the US goverment. The US has keen interest on this and is carefully examining the result of the investigation. The UK is already examining how they hire this foreign doctors and the US is not far behind. Any involvement by foreign students will result in sweeping reexamination of the student visa system. If it is very difficult now financially to be a foreign student in the US, think about a sweeping change in policies where they charge you more fees because they have to do more intensive background checks. Already, universities charge more to maintain their staff and SEVIS. They are tasked to monitor the activities of their students. This events always have unintended consequences in one way or another.
