Not Eligible for Selective Service

I submitted my FAFSA in early January however without realizing that I wasn’t eligible for Selective Service until last Saturday. I made the correction immediately on my FAFSA but I’m afraid that it’s too late for me to receive federal financial aid. One of the schools I was accepted to (NYU) had this issue in my to-do list but I don’t know how long it’s been sitting there for as the first time I checked my portal was after I was accepted.

Is there any chance that I would still be able to get federal financial aid?

If you corrected it, in essence completed your ‘to do’ list, you will be eligible.

What do you mean by “not eligible”? Do you mean that you forgot to register for the SS? If so, have you done so?

I thought he meant he hadn’t yet turned 18 but now he has.

If you file FAFSA there is a box you can check to “enroll me” for selective service when I’m of age.
