I am trying to submit my application, however it says I do not have enough units for junior status. Before you guys troll me understand that I DID INCLUDE MY SPRING SCHEDULE. The application seems to be giving me no credit for my AP courses. Is anyone else having this problem?

If your using ap credit you should mention it on the additional comment section. Check my thread I had the same problem, I would just recheck everything and then see if its a glitch my calling UC tech support. Although you should be fine since the additional comment section would suffice for any ap units.

Oh I submitted mine with 52 units although it should have been 58 without AP credit.

Dude they stress the 60 units alot ^

Do you know when we have to report our AP grades? I actually will only have like 75-76 units by the end of spring quarter…without my AP units. Do they count AP units later on or how do they do it? I don’t want to be rejected for not meeting the 90 unit requirement, but they aren’t counting my AP in

I only have 54 units without AP units. But I’ve 18 units of AP credit and I assumed that those would be counted so I didn’t put it into the additional comments?

Do think I should call them to let me write it in the additional comments box?

I wrote mine into the additional comments box that I will have over 90 units with my ap units but I did not state how many units I got from my AP tests. You could try to explain to them but I think they will know from the self reported scores and also when you send your transcript it should be included.

My question is - would it hurt my chances if I reported a 2 for an AP test? I decided to just report all of them…without realizing this issue earlier =/ but I want to call to ask them if I can just omit it

@KarmaGo I made the same assumption. I now wish I had written something in the additional comments, but hopefully there’s an additional comments box in the transfer academic update in January. If not, I feel like admissions will be able to figure out that the AP scores are to be counted in the total units if needed.

Does anyone happen to know if there’s an additional comments box in the January update?

I think there is another box when you update your grades…so it should be ok

wait i didnt see anywhere on the application where it said your number of units and i submitted it already? did i just not see it? is it there?

I called the office and I was told to send them an email explaining the situation. It would become an amendment which would be forwarded to the admissions office.

Include your full name, address and your UC number in the email.

): so… is it okay that I’m using AP credit to cover my crappy unit count…

@ sunny

I took 3 AP classes (15.7 units) and I’ll have exactly 60 by the end of Spring.

From what I’ve been told mid-level UC’s don’t stress the # of units completed as long as you meet the 60 unit requirement by the end of Spring.

anything less and you’re toast. I imagine UCB/UCLA will favor an applicant with 90 completed units over one with 65 completed units - united taken over several years without demonstrating an ability to take a full course load each semester.

Kinda lame that some high schools allow kids to take AP classes freshman year. at my school I couldn’t take AP until JUNIOR year, and they only had 6 AP courses available. And only the top 10% of the junior class could take the courses.

^ thanks for the tips! But does this mean that my chances at la and cal are less since yeah… I’d be nothing without my ap credit…
