All right, all right, I know VMI and The Citadel are NOT Service Academies. But everyone on the other boards is utterly perplexed about my questions, and I figure most of you all applying to West Point may be applying to VMI and The Citadel as safeties.

Anyway, I graduated in 2007 and took 2 years to work full-time (actually ran my own franchise for a multi-million dollar marketing corp) and figure out what I want to do with myself, lol. I suppose I should mention that I’m a female.

Now my questions are:

I have an interview scheduled at VMI. I know it’s a super conservative campus. What do I wear? (A) Black business pants, flats, and a conservative blouse, (B) Khaki pants, flats, and a conservative blouse, (C) Long khaki / tweed skirt, flats, and a conservative blouse?

I neglected to mention my best sport (ju jitsu, 4 years) on my application for VMI but did mention 2 years of basketball, 1 year of volleyball and 1 year of swim. Is the fact that all of the sports I listed have short durations going to hurt me? (Either way I plan to mention it during the interview; hopefully they don’t think I’m a scatterbrain - it’s just been a while.)

I vote for choice C. When you are dressing it's always better to be overdressed than underdressed. You need to dress for where you want to be, not where you currently are.

Congrats flyersboy! Maybe I'll see ya there in August :) Just out of curiosity, so I can gauge myself, what are your stats?

Thanks everyone! My one qualm about wearing a skirt was that freshman cadets are not allowed to wear them until they've graduated Ratline, usually in December-ish. But then again it is the most formal outfit, overall.

My d wore option A (dress slacks) to all of her interviews with MOCs, BGOs, MALOs, college reps and also to her overnight visit to WP and civilian universities. She had a very successful admissions experience.

Hehe, you are on the other site, i think.
My stats are:

3.4 gpa
class rank 22 of 294

List is long but basically-

Roller hockey rec league captain
Golf team varsity past two years jv freshman year

and 13 hours of flight time!!
