I am an english major (applying this fall) aiming for UCI and UCLA and will have finished all my pre-reqs by spring of 2013...except for the recommended two years of a foerign language. I took spanish in high school so I have option of taking only two more semesters of spanish in order to complete foreign language req. Vietnamese is also my native language, so I could tell the UCs that I plan on taking the placement test upon arrival at the university. And further than that the UCs also offer languages that my cc and surrounding ccs don't have (latin, korean, etc) that I am also interested in taking. So I suppose the question here is...are conflicting class schedules and the desire to test into vietnamese or explore another language not offered in my area enough of a reason for the UCs to overlook that recommended pre-req?
