I don't think I will join a sorority just because of how expensive they usually are. I'm super outgoing but i'm scared my social life will be lacking if i dont participate.
Doea anyone know what percent of students are involved in greek life?

Over 80% of students are in the Greek organizations. When you meet someone usually the first question is ‘what house are you in?’ If your decision is to based solely on money then you’ll be happy to know each house is willing to work with students who have a tighter budget. Many even have ‘scholarships’ for those who can’t afford to pay dues.

I don’t know the exact percentage but I went to a large public university which was full of Greek life. However, no one ever asked me whether I belonged to a certain house or not. Look the thing is, if you are concerned whether you’ll make friends without joining a house, then don’t be, because you will.
The best time to make that decision would be when you’re in the university. No point worrying about it now. Hope it helped.

My dd, a sophomore, never rushed and has loads of friends, both greek and nongreek. It has never been an issue for her and she is always busy. My next d will be there in the fall and doesn’t plan on rushing. Tons to do on campus without it. It maybe hard to believe, but ages ago, when my h and I attended, it was incredibly greek then, too. We never rushed and had a ball, with tons of friends to hang out with . Good luck in whatever your decision.

^^^Actual percentage of undergraduates who are members of a fraternity or sorority is 23.5%. That means that there are nearly 23,000 undergraduates who are NOT in a fraternity/sorority. There would be plenty of social opportunities either way, and many student organizations in which you could participate.
