After finishing first semester, I received 2 B's first quarter, a B second quarter, and actually a few on my midterms. I had a 4.0 consistently before, so this drop is somewhat significant. The thing is, though, I haven't slacked off at all! In fact, I think I've been working harder than ever to finish college applications, to commit to more extracurriculars than before, and to take more AP classes. Is it just me or did anyone else applying to top colleges this year encounter this problem?

I feel kinda bad because my grades did drop. I'm worried my midyear report will hurt me during the admissions process. I mean, I'm taking 5 AP's and pursuing an internship right now; and, though academics are still important, I had to push a lot of stuff aside in order to find time to fill out scholarship applications and write college essays.

Anyone with similar experiences? Different ones? Feel free to share!

your stats are identical to mine (2 Bs in this semester, 5 challenging AP classes (not like Environmental Science) and a 4.0 up till now). i doubt it will affect us very much, it wont help us, but it wont hurt us if that makes sense.

Yeah, likewise, though I had two very high B's in grades 9 and 10. The whole applying to college thing threw me off for first semester. I ended up with 2 B's out of 4 AP courses and one Honors (no AP offered).

So I totally get where you're coming from, and I'm hoping that this blemish on my otherwise rather pretty application won't knock me out of the running.

I don't have senioritis, I swear! Just affording-college-itis...

Yeah I have the same problem. I have only had one B in my whole high school career, but this first semester of my senior year I have gotten 2 B's. Like you, its not that I am slacking off, but rather that I have 5 AP classes now, sports, community service involvements and then all this college app stuff to top it all off. This really sucks for me because I got a 89.7% in one of the classes I got a B in and the teacher refuses to round up. :(. ah well....hopefully it doesn't drop my class rank at all.

same... don't assume the drop in grades is due to senioritis! Some senior year teachers are real btches and we aren't supermen!

i got 89.99 in my precal last yr for quarter grade >.<

wow your teach is horrible

This is happening to a close friend of mine right now. And she's been working so hard. Sadly, there's no official "Senioritis" test to prove that you're not contaminated..yet. Hopefully, they'll see the why it's working out that way.

I have the complete opposite. I had very good grades throughout HS but now, I have extremely high grades (the highest I've ever gotten). It's refreshing. In the past, I never had a pure 100 in any class. Now...it's a different story..completely.
