Notes

This may seem like a wierd question but how do you guys take notes for class? Do the colleges you go to allow you to use laptops in class to take notes on? Could you also include the college you go to? Thanks!

I got to Embry-Riddle Aero. U. in Prescott for Aero. Eng. I rarely see people in class with laptops, and they don't primarily take notes on them because of the needed equations and diagrams. Maybe for a different major it could work well though...

If the laptop is quiet, I would be surprised if any college or professor wouldn't allow it's use.

Through three semesters of Cornell I haven't seen a single person in any of my classes take notes on their laptop during a lecture.

I hate taking notes on my laptop. Generally speaking what I like to do is taking the notes in a notebook during class, and then creat chapter outlines, since that forces me to review my notes. Also it'll make it easier to read, since after 2 hours of solid note taking you'd be amazed at how bad your writting can get.

yeah, ive only seen a handful of people take notes on their laptop, and this is my senior year. i have a laptop, which i take with to class sometimes, but not for note taking. i took it to my digital imaging class to use it in class, rather than the computer in the classroom.. my laptop was much faster. i also take it with sometimes because i have an hour break between classes, so i can just go hang out somewhere and use the wireless internet... but i've never actually used it in class for notetaking. but then again, i don't take notes.

laptops make it hard to not be lazy too. Just print them out and you don't have as much motivation to actually review. Obviously, math and science are going to be hard to use a laptop for.

How many of you tape your lectures?

I could never tape lectures--who wants to listen to something twice? I guess it would be different if I went to a large school, but most of my classes have under 30 in them so if I need clarification on something, I can just ask.
