<p>“A message will be posted on the admissions web site this week indicating that we will notify early decision applicants on the evening of December 10th. We will communicate specific instructions to applicants via our web site and through e-mail messages to individual applicants. Please encourage students to be patient as we finish reviewing early decision applications and prepare to notify students.”</p>

<p>Does anyone know whether such an early notification date (10th is very early compared to other Ivies) is a sign that Cornell has received less-than-normal amount of applications? or does the early date have no relations with the number of apps?</p>
<p>They received ~3000 applications this year, compared to 3500 last year.
However, I have a feeling they were done reviewing the majority of the apps at least two weeks ago.</p>
