Notification date?

It was probably not an email only to non-admits because in all honesty, my stats are pretty lame and Vassar is like a low reach for me.

I live in New York, making me not an international student. I had received earlier info from Vassar about stuff like login info and pins and alumni interviews but still haven’t gotten the email about checking on Friday.

Hopefully goldtortoise is right and we’re all just worrying too much over tiny things. Good luck to everyone!

The same e-mail went to all early decision candidates a week before and the e-mail did not indicate good news or bad news. It is the same e-mail for everyone. As to what time on Friday, a few days before the early action date, if you logged on, you no longer saw your info on what materials Vassar has/does not have. Instead, it gave the date AND TIME of the decision. The web page listed the time as 5:00 pm. This changed the day of the decision to 4:00 pm and decisions were available promptly at 4:00 (not a minute earlier). I would guess the same scenario will take place on 3/25.

I live in New York too and I got the email and my last name starts with a letter towards the end of the alphabet.

I also don’t think it’s a letter only to non-admits because that would be a tease and truly mean.

However, I’m sure Vassar College has all of our emails in one place as I, and I’m sure all of the people on here, have gotten an email previously saying that Vassar acknowledged(received) your application back when we sent our application. That’s why I find it strange that people haven’t received emails yet. Check in your spam folders. I’ve gotten college emails in there all the time :p.

@CommonerCoffee

2210 definitely isn’t lame…

PrinceMuzic and Cesar - only for non- admits!!!
That is probably the silliest post on CC ever. How does that possibly make sense?

^Haha. It’s the crazy anxiousness in my head talking. :-)

Sent from my SPH-D700 using CC App

i think there are more chances for admits than for non-admits.
i applied to kenyon, franklin and marshall,lafayette-all get waitlisted or rej. I just didn’t receive the email like this while there are people who did.
btw, i got the message too

“Are you guys international students? ”
i’m international but get the message

@ Goldtortoise
Well that aspect of my application isn’t that lame I guess but my average and other stuff at school aren’t very appealing.

Argh, still haven’t received the email about the notification yet. It may mean nothing but it’s still a slightly uncomfortable feeling.

@D’yer Maker: I never got an email saying not to worry about interviews (and I didn’t interview), but I got this one. What’s going on? I didn’t request an interview, so maybe that’s why…

@carmoniam, you didn’t receive the interview email because you didn’t request an interview. That makes perfect sense.

@carmoniam: Yes, oregonianmom is right. The letter seems to be written to applicants who (a) requested interviews and (b) didn’t receive one. Since you didn’t request one, it makes sense that you didn’t get that particular e-mail.

And it seems to come from the alumni interview coordinator (who may or may not be part of the admissions office – I wasn’t clear on that and really wasn’t curious enough to probe deeper). The purpose of the e-mail was to assure applicants whose interview requests went unfulfilled that the interview is purely informational and not evaluative.

So if you didn’t request an interview – or requested one and didn’t have one – you’re no better or worse off than those who did have them.

The purpose of communications like this from Vassar and other colleges seems to be to prevent applicants from reading too much into insignificant things and losing all hope. Until they send out the decisions, they want you to know that you’re still in the running. I don’t think they’re taunting applicants and sending out messages only to rejected applicants telling them to log in to learn about their decision. That would be a special kind of evil. The point is that they will announce the decision when it is time to announce the decision. They’re not dropping hints and clues like some archvillain in a bad comic book who’s trying to challenge his crimefighting nemesis. Just hold onto your hat and wait until they come right out with the news and remember that, until then, you’re an applicant with as much of a shot at getting accepted as you were when you sent your application to the college. Your stock is not rising and falling as more and more people log in to College Confidential to post news of their personal experiences.

Ah, thanks for the responses. I didn’t know what the alumni interview email contained exactly, but yes, from your description it figures I shouldn’t have received one. Thank you. :)

but I didn’t get one…

yikes

I haven’t gotten an email, and I lost the link to the page where the application checklist was and where our decisions will be posted. does anybody have that link? Much appreciated…

you’ll need your Vassar ID and PIN.

If you check the name of the tab, it says “Vassar Incoming Class”

Just a thought…

@mypencilcase

what tab?

The message on the Checklist page has changed, it now says “At this late stage in the application process, the online checklist for Regular Decision applicants to Vassar has been closed. Please check back for your decision at close of business on Friday, March 25th.”
Oh MY GOD…

If you open this window : https://secure3.vassar.edu/applicants/

and you look all the way at the top of your screen, it says Vassar Incoming Class…
