Notification?

haha me too, especially so few international students apply to Bowdoin, I check this page every 2 hours!!

i don’t think that asking for grades has anything to do with the decision they’re making on the candidate. I called Bowdoin admissions earlier on and they said that they would definitely be requesting grades. They just asked for them pretty late

They want to see the rigor of the classes you’re taking your senior year and how strong your grades are this year. Every datapoint matters.

ahh I really do hope that they request my grade. feel like I am the only one who did not get the request.

sujiehon. where you from? I am an international student as well. ^^

I wanna know now im freakin out

swjy07,I’m in China. Your name looks like Chinese too?

I think that is the Mid-year report you are refering to? We are not required to send it until March next year.

Nah I am South Korean actually. Well it is not that Mid-Year I am referring to. I heard that Bowdoin College requests 1st quarter grade for some reasons…so…I was just wondering.

Wow…I heard there are lots of strong Korean applicants, luckily we are in different pools haha.
I think that’s not part of the common decision process. It really depends, maybe some school has this tradition of sending 1st quarter grade. .

Man this is incredibly scary because its taking so long for the decisions to come out, so if they mail it on the 13th does that mean we recieve the letters on the 15th?
Also I really hope a good number of us get in, all of you guys seem like awesome people

I keep evaluating myself like crazy and I know I’m at a disadvantage
But I still really want to go to this school!
Hey everyone rank a african americans chances with a class size of: 13/47 and a 3.57UW/3.62W (this is the transcript before the senior year)
Am I the least bit eligible, ignoring the essay, ECs and others while doing Early Decision
or do I have just flat out no chance at all?

I think you’re eligible man, although it’s hard to say without knowing your school, course rigor, etc, and that’s ignoring essays/recommendations. There’s no such thing as “flat out no chance at all” unless you don’t apply! ;)

Everyone on this thread seems so nice… good luck to all who applied!

Thanks, Is my class size being 47 students really strange? most small high schools are like 100, so this makes our school top 10% only 5 students. I’m rank 13 so its awkward in my case. I feel like im too low for most of the prestigious colleges.

13/47 puts you at 26%ile, while 97% of Bowdoin students were in the top quarter, so it’s not a great ranking. A lot depends on the rigor of your hs and your courseload. You don’t get much of a bump from the weighted GPA, so I assume you haven’t taken many weighted courses? Does your school offer many? If they do and you haven’t taken them, that’ll count heavily against you. You will get a boost from being African American, though. How much of a boost you’ll get – no idea, there. And there are so many other factors – are you the first in your family to go to college? Do you have compelling extracurriculars? Do you live outside the NE? Were you a recruited athlete? What were your test scores?

Has anyone called Bowdoin’s Admissions office to find out when they’re mailing their ED decisions?

Last week they said they were aiming to mail them on the 13th (tomorrow)!

Does that mean international students will get the email the 13th as well? Or on the 14th perhaps? Ooo I am so excited!! Good luck to all of you!!

Yea I did take all my advanced courses provided at this school even though my gpa is 3.62W the rank 1 person has a 4.2 gpa who also took the same classes which were the total amount and he has all As, so does that mean he actually is our limit and based on our amount of classes, we can’t go over 4.2?

And its alot to say, I have many ECs but i just dont have the time to type the whole list atm, and my test score was bad so I didn’t sent it, but academic wise I wanted an evaluation from other people
