Son was deferred; 1550 SAT. Does anyone know what percentage of early admits are usually deferred? Also, what percentage of deferred students historically are accepted regular decision?
I GOT ACCEPTED!!! OVER THE MOON RIGHT NOW!! I was also pre-admitted into Mendoza!!
If anyone has questions regarding deferral, please pm me. I’ve had two kids deferred who were subsequently accepted.
Congrats everyone who got accepted, but this is the worst day of my life… 34 ACT… Top 5% of class… EC ON EC! Including president of math-science club and captain of football team with numerous school records and accolades. Seems like I am as good or better candidate than any and I couldn’t even get a deferral. Notre Dame has been my dream since 2nd grade but I guess I’m a boilermaker now. So disappointing.
@irish1997 I’m sorry to hear about that. Is there anything you think that might’ve been a reason you didn’t get in?
@brotherstwo 1580/1600 on SAT, 34 ACT. Pretty sure that carried my application because everything else was unremarkable.
@baseballguy85 I guess my gpa? I have around a 3.9 gpa. Maybe my essays were unremarkable? I was confident that I would at LEAST get a deferral. It is absolutely heartbreaking and a kick to the gut. I absolutely love everything about the university. It is so hard for me to picture myself anywhere else.
I wish there were something I could do to reapply or appeal to regular decision. I guess life goes on.
I am unable to access my decision- my portal looks like it has for the past two weeks. Is anyone in the same boat?
Congratulations to everyone who’s been accepted! You all are making me very nervous for the RD round, because your scores are so high I have yet to seen a person accepted with my scores (1440 SAT), but maybe things will be a tad easier in the RD round.
To those of you who were deferred, don’t lose hope. Notre Dame clearly likes something about you, so have confidence. Keep/start praying, and God will put you on the best path.
To those of you who were denied, I honestly don’t know what else to say other than that I can’t even imagine what that feels like, but it’s something I unfortunately may experience as well. Just know God always has a plan. The fact that you even applied to ND means you’re a bright student, so don’t beat yourself up. Keep your chin up, and best of luck with your other colleges!
@brotherstwo. Accepted-35ACT, 800 Math 2 subject, 780 Chemistry subject. Top 5% with most difficult rigor school offered.
Accepted! 35 Act. Had a lower gpa than average with a 3.8 but it was on a harder grading scale (94% used to be a 3.7). Weighted gpa 4.07. 9 APs total. Two varsity sports, 90+ hours internship at a hospital, leadership position at church, nhs, etc. Super surprised to get in because of my lower gpa but really happy
@IvyHopeful98, I was actually admitted with a combined CR+M score of 1450, so have no fear! I think you still have a great chance. Besides, test scores aren’t everything (cliche, but true).
So I think I’m starting to figure this out. It seems like to me that those with overall strong resumes and an ACT of 34-36 got in, whereas if you had a 33 or below you were deferred, unless something major stood out.
@201698 Well that’s a little reassuring. I think the big difference between you and I though (I saw your post with breakdown) is that you seem a little more well rounded with 700+ in M and R, whereas I scored 800 M but 640 R
Son accepted. 35 ACT. W4.7/U3.95 in rigorous IB program, twice varsity captain & MVP, 3-time state qualifier. EC/leadership: DECA State officer, MUN officer, NMS, NHS, Teen court foreman… Honestly I would’ve been surprised with rejection.
Congrats to all accepted. And for deferrals and rejections, stay optimistic. He has a plan.
Accepted with 33 ACT and top 2% of my class! 3.98 unweighted GPA. Could not be happier, I’ve been wanting to go here for my whole life!!!
Accepted with 2200 SAT (700CR, 770M, 730W), 10 APs, Varsity sport captain, Science club president, lots of volunteer and Church activities, MUN, History Club, Spanish Club, NHS, Work 20 hours a week, 4.0 UW, legacy. Plus, my essays were fire.
Accepted!!! So excited!!!
Accepted!! 32 ACT and 4.0 Gpa. YAY!
