Hi everyone! I saw a great discussion on the ND leadership seminar for 2013 on CC, and I thought it was a smart idea and a good way to hear from people who also applied and learn more about it from alumni. Has anyone applied? We don't get the news of whether or not we got in until March, but I wanted to start hearing from people now! Let me know or post on here, I know I have a lot of questions/excitement/enthusiasm and maybe some of you guys do too! : ) also if you guys have any backup programs, I would love to hear about those as well. ND is the only one I have applied to so far.

Hi, my daughter applied as well, with the Science seminar as her 1st choice. Can’t wait to hear in mid March!

I applied. It is my only one as well. I applied for ethics. My essay was a bout genetics testing.I workd really hard on it. Hoping I get in

Hey! Glad someone started a thread like this. I also applied for the science and ethics… its scary to think that only 40 people in the whole country are gonna get in… I wanna do this so bad!!! What are your guy’s stats?

Last year they accepted 300 applicants! Your chances are better than you think I hadn’t taken the SAT or the ACT before I applied, so the only test score I could send was my PSAT, which was a 229. I think diversity is going to kick my butt though, I’m from IL and lots of people from here apply

Less than two weeks guys….

I know they mail letters on 3/17.
I will be away.
That is good news that they take 300 applicants. I thought it was much less.

According to this post they accept 120 total, 40 per group / seminar. <a href=“FREE/Excellent Scholarship Summer Programs - #41 by mtd203 - Summer Programs - College Confidential Forums”>FREE/Excellent Scholarship Summer Programs - #41 by mtd203 - Summer Programs - College Confidential Forums;

The website says “Approximately 100 students are admitted to Leadership Seminars each year” which I think means 30-40 for each seminar, not 100 for each seminar. <a href=“Leadership Seminars | Office of Pre-College Programs | University of Notre Dame”>http://precollege.nd.edu/leadership-seminars/

Sorry to post this, I would be so happy if they accepted 100 per seminar and 300 total!

I actually had some trouble getting my credit card payment to go through, which led to a pretty long email exchange with the Admissions people for the seminar. In one email, I asked how many people typically apply and they said that last year they had 700 applicants and 300 were accepted, but not all were able to attend. Maybe she gave me incorrect information, but I hope not! I would also like it if they accepted 300 :)

Interesting, is it possible that their yield is only around 35%? Meaning that 100 are accepted per seminar but only 35 attend?

I talked to a girl who did it last year and its 40 per seminar…. 20 guys, 20 girls. So 120 people total… She said it was about a 14% acceptance rate last year, but getting in to this (which is much more competitive than the ND summer scholars) is basically like guaranteed admission for next fall. She said 98% of the kids are admitted when they apply in the fall.

I sent my application in on the due date. Do you think that will affect whether I get in or not?

It shouldn’t, as long as you got everything in on time!

Hey everyone! I also applied for the Science Ethics program! Super pumped to FINALLY hear whether or not I got in, since I applied in November! Just wanted to say hi, and wish everyone luck! May the odds be ever in your favor ;)

also, has anyone heard what the experience is like? I honestly have no clue what to expect, if I even get in!

TOMORROW!

I know! I’m so nervous! I know they’re only supposed to be sending them out tomorrow but I’m desperately hoping that something is in my mailbox when I get home…

Has anyone logged into their online account to see of their status has changed at all? People last year posted that they could tell from their online account if they had been accepted before they received their letters.

Is anything changed on yours?

no. yours?
