@omnibusjeremius after the “application checklist” section of your application, there is a new section called “Forms” with a link that says “Required Leadership Seminars Confirmation Form 2016”

So excited… when will a facebook page go up, i think more ppl have facebook than twitter
Has anyone received anything in the mail?
This “portal” system is annoying. They didn’t even tell us that we could check the portal to see if we’re accepted or not. I found out about it solely from this thread.
Why don’t they just email us? It’s led to a lot of anxiety, and the fact that I don’t see anything updated on my portal shouldn’t be the way that they reject people.
@omnibusjeremius They send out physical letters too.
Everyone, I have made a group on Facebook for all those who will be attending the Leadership Seminars 2016. When you ask for joining, just send me a text message specifying where you got in.
Here’s the link:
Looking forward to meeting you there.
Science, Ethics, and Responsibility!
@darnedcarrot I would not take you results from this program as an indicator of your capacity to get in to colleges. Although it is a program with a prestigious school, this is a big diversity magnet, which is very different from college application processes.
Got my rejection letter in the mail today in NJ so if you haven’t gotten your letter yet, it’s on its way
Rejected. 2260 sat, ap scholar W distinction as a junior, valedictorian, President of 4 clubs, state fbla awards, amazing recommendation letter, attended yygs ple last year, research assistant in econ, business editor of newspaper, 1st chair region orchestra for instrument, varsity tennis, etc.
Lol. Their loss for sure- applied for American arts, pop culture +social change.
Yeah … I was rejected too, just got the letter. Oh well. Gotta get over it.
Just out of curiosity - what did you guys write about for the second essay? The “significant experiences/achievements” one?
@BananaChips Nice stats. Are you a URM? The Leadership Seminar really is a talent search for ND. And, more importantly, do you really want to attend ND…or Yale?
@BananaChips Your achievements are amazing! But the stats on paper are not what it all boils down to. I only had my PSAT score to submit. It wasn’t phenomenal either - 1320. I think they’re looking for diversity, personality, and talent. I’ve always been a very great writer, so I believe that my essays and hooks added weight to my application. Then again, I am also first-generation, bilingual, I am involved in expansive ECs, and my immigrant parents were not able to attend high school. My essays reflected my personality, so I trust that admission officers wanted to know who the applicant is, not just the applicant’s numbers and stats.
got in!!! super excited…
now patiently waiting for a facebook page
Just received my rejection letter. Congrats to those that got in though!
Just out of curiosity, did anyone else receive an offer to attend the Summer Scholars program at Notre Dame?
Thanks so much! And yeah obviously it’s not the stuff on paper that matters, but I’m confident that my other attributes such as my essays, recommendations, etc are great too. In fact, if we’re talking about sheer numbers, I don’t think my application would be the best.
I’m not an URM/disadvantaged/first gen, so maybe it had to do with the application decision. I was really interested in applying to ND as one of my top choices, but not anymore. Congrats to everyone, and omnibus, it’s their loss for sure!
