I have a quick question- I’m filling out my parents’ information and I’m wondering if it would just be better to leave the employer, position, college attended, and graduate school spaces blank. Will they hold it against you if they see that you come from a well-off family?
@EveningSwan No. Both my parents went to graduate school, and both are well off. I got in. You’re honestly over thinking this. Just do well on your essays.
Hi guys! It’s my first post on this thread, but I was just wondering if any of you guys know where to put in the credit card information. It might just be after you press submit, but I don’t want to take the risk and try it.
@Slytherclaw12
After I submitted and then returned to it a few days later, I found the option to pay. I’m not sure if I just missed it somewhere, but you do get the chance to pay after you’ve submitted everything (but the recommendations).
How many recommendations should one typically have? Min and max?
@Destrxct Oh I thought it was only 1. Do we need more? Too late for me though, I think.
Well it has the option to “Add Recommender” so I was assuming you could add as many as you want?
@hwhat318 Thanks.
Just submitted my application- I thought it was just one letter of rec too.
@Destrxct
“You are required to submit one Teacher Letter of Recommendation.”
I interpreted that as you are allowed to only send one LOR.
Did anyone else send two? I sent it to two teachers but I can exclude one if it is frowned upon to send two…
@gigglebot3
Unless one teacher says something bad, I think you’re fine. It doesn’t explicitly say you aren’t allowed to send more than one. In any case, they can just ignore one of them if they can’t be bothered reading it.
I’m applying to the pop culture and social change seminar! Submitting my application today!
I submitted my application last night and I come to find out that my counselor and my teacher haven’t submitted anything. What fun!
@Slytherclaw12
My teacher hasn’t either. Gotta keep reminding them. We have about 4 days left…
Anyone else worried that NDLS is too short? 2 weeks out of the whole summer isn’t impressive.
The “impressive” part is being accepted into this very competitive program, not its length. If you are interested in it just to be perceived as impressive, it may not be the program for you. Just my .02. (My child attended last year and absolutely loved it.)
@suzy100
I’m not worried about the impressiveness of this program. Rather, how do we prove to colleges that we didn’t waste the rest of our summer playing video games?
I’m honestly not trying to be snarky when I tell you, get a job. Work a job. Use the money from that job to help pay for college.
@suzy100
If I get accepted, I doubt anyone would give me a 2 week break in the middle of a 3 month (?) job. Out of curiosity, did your kid get a job?
Did anyone write any additional comments?
@homealone16
Yes to explain my visa situation, which reminds me
@suzy100
I can’t get a job because my visa won’t allow it.
