Congratulations aksoccerboy. May be you will find a nice catholic girl to date at Yale and get your parents to upgrade your parental financial aid! I do suggest you borrow money from your parents rather than outside since it costs too much in interest.

"texaspg, Do you really think he applied to all those other schools knowing that his parents would not pay for them? "

“Also, I knew from the beginning that my parents would pay more for a Catholic college than a non-Catholic ones. They were clear on that principle.”

I’ll admit, my first impression was that they had a problem with Yale. I do think it’s somewhat different for your parents to say, “We’ll pay more for a Catholic university or college than we will for a non-Catholic one.”

I would never actually say that myself, but, as I said, it’s their prerogative.

I hope you have a fantastic experience at Yale, and I hope you come out of it feeling you got your money’s worth.

If you don’t like the Catholic center at Yale, St. Thomas More, head to St. Mary’s. http://www.stmarys-priory.com/ It’s a Dominican parish and a lot of Catholic Yalies prefer it to St.Thomas More. http://stm.yale.edu/ Some split their allegiance. Sometimes it’s nice to get out of the Yale bubble for a while. I’m just letting you know there’s more than one option. (St. Mary’s is actually closer to some of the residential colleges than St. Thomas More is.)
