I am currently a sophomore at ND and looking to apply as a transfer to Rice University. I was waitlisted as a senior in high school, and came to Notre Dame instead. I had a HORRIBLE freshman year here (I was a thousand miles away from home, and was in the wrong major). But this past semester I had semester GPA of 3.58, it's a big improvement but my cumulative is horrible. What do you think my chances are? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Just to add on to this, I am aware that Rice is a very competitive school, and the fact that my freshman year was so horrible is not really helping me. But I spoke to a Rice transfer admissions counselor and she said that one solid semester was good enough to apply but I don't know if this type of situation has happened and ended with an acceptance?

And just so you guys know more about me, I also participate in the inter mural teams here at school and some Latino organizations here on campus. Don't have a leadership position, but I do work two jobs working at least 18 hours each week.

oh c'mon no ideas?

And why are you transferring?
