So after visiting ND I have decided that I REALLY want to attend. My dad currently makes around $55,000 and my cost of attendance for 2012-2013 would be $1,900 after aid, schols, and gifts. However, he recently told me that he has recieved a promotion and will be getting paid $82,000 next year...im wondering if ND would be affordable after next year. Anyone have any input on my situation? I have two brothers in college if that helps.

My dad made a little more than that and I got enough aid to make ND comparable to my state school price wise.

bumping this

It probably won’t be bad after the promotion. In the class of 2015, 70% of the students had a household income of > 100k. 35% had a household income of > 200k.

@EnticingPlague were you at the Visitation last week?!

^ Yes I was! It was amazing.

our income was ~85K/year, and total cost of attendance was a tad over 20K after scholarships but before loans… if you are one of three in college, I think you can divide that number by three (roughly)… so you may be looking at 5-7K/year?

if anybody else has any input on this, feel free to adjust/make suggestions

This may not apply to the OP but may apply to others. Just a caution, so as to avoid disappointment: your parents can have an income of $85K (or even lower) and you will still be near or at full pay for ND if the parents have relatively significant savings. ND financial aid is need only. We found the financial aid offer very similar to other need only schools.

So from what I have been researching and so on it seems like once my siblings graduate from college I would be screwed…they would graduate as I start my junior year so for my last two years of college my COA would skyrocket. I don’t think I can afford ND anymore. My parent’s don’t have any savings. Looks like its a state school for me.

EnticingPlague - If you haven’t already, I hope you call the financial aid office at ND on Monday. They should be able to give you a realistic estimate of your costs the last two years after your siblings graduate. Talk with them about this specifically before you decide ND is a no go.

Go to the College Board CSS Profile web site. They will have a financial aid estimator specifically for Notre Dame. There is also a link from the ND Financial aid web site.
