On the poem about the guy dying...what were the "gains" that he left behind?

the poem was about the woman dying, wasn't it. i put the gains were potential happiness and possibly a new wife. or am i thinking about the wrong poem. the other one was about grief.

My answer was the one about future happiness and a new wife as well.

In the Grief passage, does anyone remember their answer to the Q about the author's message to the readers? Two of the answer choices were "resignation to loss" and "meekness in mourning". That one seriously tripped me up.

i wrote meekness in mourning

Omg, I put that as well but I can't help second-guessing myself. Anyone else?

The collegeboard NEVER allows you to post specific questions...The thing you signed after the first test was an agreement to NEVER discuss the questions by ANY means.

i wrote meekness in mourning too. for charles and his glass...was he suddenly alive again because he turned really pale or did he seem ephereal (sp?)? and did appearance denote the good looks of some of those present or their unease at the topic? what did thirst say about the glass poem? that's all i can think of right now.

gotcha...then maybe you can join me in rounding up the couple hundred people who discuss specific questions after every test administration date. not likely.

My answer was the one about future happiness and a new wife as well.

did not put this. she wanted the husband to remember the good times

remember good times--at the end she wants him to read her poetry and cry.
i wrote ethereal, absolutely unsure. there actually was little evidence supporting that now that i think about it.
good looks for appearance

i didnt think appearence was about good looks, the entire poem was about the outward image

To cjsb0160...I was just responding to all of the people asking "when are we allowed to discuss this?" I realise that nobody listens to the rules.

Well, there has always been a case where people discuss the Qs after the test. Just look at all the other threads around here. I realize that doesn't mean that it's right, but it can't be helped.

For Charles coming to "flesh" again, I wrote that it was because he cleaned the floor and then reappeared (because the line before that in the poem was that Charles made "2 sweeps and then was flesh again").

I know I was caught BTW good looks and something else for the "Appearance" Q. I know that I did NOT pick the answer that said "good looks of some of the people present" because I thought "Appearance" refered to people as a whole. I might have picked the outward characteristic of people.

Thirst denotes what the object was originally used for?

the title suggests that chrles was literally on fire...the alchohal glass that broke caused fire from the blue flames that guy lit. his arm or something caught fire, so with 2 sweeps of his other arm, the fire was out, and it was flesh again.

***i think thats what happened in that one

Hm, I didn't think about it like that. >.<

for one of the literary device questions (book poem?) was the answer of "what is not here" balanced?

I think I put Apostrophe for that one.

What did u guys get for the Charles on Fire Q about the glistening and the gloves?

Mmmkay.. I've got some questions to throw/add to the table.

•Quilt one--Did Maggie display diplomacy or self-denial in contrast to Dee (Wangero)?
•Mourning--Did the statue reference imply that like a flaw in marble, mourning will quickly destroy or that like the inevitable crumble of a statue, mourning will eventually cease to exist?
•First line of the last passage about geese, dreams, and such--Was it advice that author himself did not heed/example of his paranoia/lesson that passage goes on to analyze?
•The entire passage about books and censorship and God.... right.

Let's here your thoughts, everybooooooody.

yeah i think thats what happened, because now that i remember, he ends up looking in the mirror to make sure he dint get burned or anything, but said "it didnt matter"---he was being hypocritical(i think that was also an answer)- luk at my previous post for explanation(hopefully im right)

I think I put introspective thinking for Maggie (quilt), marble/flaw (Grief), lesson that passage goes to analyze (I THINK for Geese passage), and was there a Q on God in the books passage? I was torn BTW most cautious censorship and freedom of the press. Ugh.
