November 2010 - General Discussions - Curve, versions, DH, etc

I had the same passages. It ranged from easy to medium.

-1 770 imo

^there has never been a CR section with a curve that harsh.

Fwiw, my prediction was based off the Jan 2010 test, which had the least forgiving curve of any test.

Sorry. Now that I look at it, it is indeed harsh.

However, I do believe that it was fairly easy and -1 should be atleast 790.

theres never been a curve that steep either

Thanks for the predictions. I’m just hoping I did better on writing than I thought I did and ended up with a mid-700. Also, for CR and Math, I added an extra “wrong” question… hoping I don’t get any more wrong answers than the ones I’ve discovered.

1 wrong has, 95%+ of the time, still been an 800, so go from there.

can i jack this thread? haha

most likely:
2-4 wrong on cr
2-4 wrong on math
2-4 wrong on w
10-12 essay (this essay was definitely then my 10 essay last may)

worst case:
2-6 wrong on cr
2-4 wrong on math
2-6 wrong on w
getting a 10 again…

DH totally dominated yesterday’s International test and BOTH versions of the US tests. I took the US test with the Deception passage and am studying the threads for the Echolocation and International tests. So far, DH scored 18 hits on the International test, 15 hits on the Deception test and 14 hits on the Echolocation test. These numbers will probably go up. Remember, these are hits on Level 3 - 5 words. So Cheng81894 I believe you should continue studying DH.

Some have said that 1 of the 2 versions of the Nov 2010 SAT is very similar to the Nov 2005 SAT.
Which of the “versions” below is the same as the Nov 2005 SAT?

Writing
VERSION 1: College student board games, botanical garden, Film?
VERSION 2: Dragonwings/Chinatown, 14000 feet/3 miles
EXPERIMENTAL: Pyramids in Egypt?

Just for people taking the SAT later looking for past prompts to study -
ESSAY TOPIC WEST COAST: Is imagination less valuable than facts and objectivity?
ESSAY TOPIC EAST COAST: Is it better to focus on doing something for yourself or others? (paraphrased)

Critical Reading
VERSION 1: Echolocation, College Athletes, Bats, Music
VERSION 2: Farmhouse, Deception, Quantum Physics
EXPERIMENTAL: Festoon/solipsistic (?), Clouds and Scientists (?) + Drawing girl (?), Fingerprints + Langston Hughes (?)

Math
VERSION 1: 7^1600, water hose, 100th row
VERSION 2: Multiple of 6/8/9, circle inscribed in two squares
EXPERIMENTAL: ?

DH really came thru on the November tests. I counted at least 15 major hits on the Deception test. Plus there were lots of words that were wrong answers. CC threads indicate that the Echolocation test had at least 14 major hits and the International test had at least 18 hits. Thats pretty darn good.

Woot evocation saved me!!!

anyone? i offer prizes too…

I’ll do your Most Likely with the best results.

CR - 800
Math - 750
Writing - 800

2350.

Prize plox

Halle Berry = evocation was a good hit!

^thanks bud

Also, dearth saved me (I was about to pick jumble/stability) :D

Version 2 Math
Version 2 CR

Did any words from DH 2011 appear on the test that are not in DH 2010?

WR would not be a 710 with -5 and 10 essay
WR 660 I would say
CR would be 680-700. On October I got -8 and a 660 CR
Math 4 wrong 1 omit will be a 670
about 2030-2060

Good question! For sure proliferation and probably some more.
