November 2012 International SAT1 Discussion Thread

Yeah, that was definitely one of the answers but I think there was a question about what Author 1 would say to the proponents of alternative medication. Question 4, maybe?

What’d you think of sentence completions? I thought they went pretty well this time. Direct Hits is a goldmine.

@Over2100
I think I answer fortuitous revelation as she did not know her father’s birthplace before and
she knew it after that because she needed to fill the application.So I think it is unintentional.At first I think it may be pragmatic requirement too but I do not understand why it is pragmatic.

btw does anyone remember the number of question of math 20 questions section that answe 5/44

How did u do the pentagon problem

enigmatic + edifying or
puzzling + fabricated???

I chose the first one.

Also writing question:
“The watermelon tourmaline, a blah blah blah, is so named because of its blah blah blah…”
“so named” is correct?

@corrinder94
“is so named” is correct, but this question is in the experimental section, i think

Anyone remember the SC question with an answer “characterize…mountainous”?

Does anyone remember a question where the perimeter of a polygon is 10 so how many sides are there if each side is less than 1 meter?
also, was the answer 5/44 C or D?

characterize…mountainous was my answer too @LazyConi

Great, but I forgot the problem itself… Can you still remember it?

The first one is 11
True, it is 5/44

İ remember last one as 7.My sequence was 7-5-4 and they all add up to 16 in every 3 consecutive box.Am ı wrong?
7-5-4-7-5-4

I know it’s 5/44 but was it C or D? I can’t remember.
I think the sentence was something like waves being named roaring forties not describing how high the waves really went or something close to that, or was this another question?

why aren’t internationals discussing so much?? us takers already have so many threads and posts…

Guys! come on! how do you think the curve will be? I found the test quite hard…

especially math.

Yea math was pretty crazy i omitted 2 which is unlike me. i personally found this math test the hardest out of all cb tests ive seen.
i think math curve might be more merciful (maybe -1=800?) <- that does happen occasionally, i herd one wrong was still 800 for 2 tests in 2011 :/

phew, glad I’m not the one who found the math hard. yes, I omitted two. and a couple of the answers discussed on here are different from mine, so I am in panic mode. I never thought I could get below 700 for math. and it might just happen. Unless the curve is good!

does anyone know if i can get an 11 or 12 in the essay if i wrote only one line in the conclusion( i didn’t have time left)
@Over2100 & @guille i think the answer is pragmatic requirment

sure it can happen. the essay is all about your command of english, so as long as your intro + bodies are decent and reader-friendly, they’ll see from your unfinished conclusion that you were obviously trying to finish your essay and that it would be just as good as the rest, which was the case for me (all i wrote was “in conclusion” and I still pulled off an 11)
