November 2nd (Sunday) SAT I Discussion

How does everyone think the Sunday test went?

math- pretty hard- pelase make my guesses accurate
critical reading- surprisingly easy- I knew what aplomb means- yeah!
writing mc- easy, hopefully I broke my last score of 730
essay topic- very easy to write about- hopefully I broke my last score of 730

anyone else's thoughts?

Do you remember any other vocab words? Wonder if there was an overlap with either the PSATs or the Saturday test. What were your reading about?

I thought the opposite:

Math- pretty easy with a couple of challenging ones
CR- pretty hard

I had 4 reading sections (sections 4+5 were both reading). Which one do you think was experimental?

correct answers: aplomb, auspicious, flourish (along with rates possibly?)

choices that were wrong: diffident, perfidy (choice in question where aplomb is correct answer,) flux, veracity

brain kind of fried... lol

yeah, that annoyed me.

i hope the one with the two scientists was experimental, that one had a couple question i was not completely sure about

I got auspicious wrong... whatever... Did yo have the story about the art critic and the story about the guy meeting his wifes grandmother and aunt?

You remember any hard math questions?

I put APLOMB, AUSPICIOUS, and LICENTIOUS. I think the one with flourishing had to do with computers. Answer was benefits..flourishing. I studied the vocabulary in DH. Amazing - one hit after another.

What was the licentious question?

Something about society being dissolute. Maybe it was experimental. I also remember IMPASSE.

Oh ya, I got that too. Do you remember any math?

I am not so good in math. I'll try to remember. Did you have a passage about fairy tales and frogs? Also I remember a sentence completion about pizza.

The pizza I got antecedent for. Ya I had the passage about the fairy tales and frogs. What was the answer for what is the purpose of the frogs? Also, did you have a passage about the art critic and the story about the guy meeting his wifes grandmother and aunt- one of those were experimental.

Yes, antecedent. Frogs = lowly appearance. Yes, Mama Day was on my test. Also remember NOXIOUS. I am checking thru my copy of Direct Hits. There really were tons of hits. Wish they had Direct Hits for Math.

Ya I got that also for the frogs. Do you remember any answers for the Japanese story (short double passage)?

Also, for math free response, did you get:

1, 55, 100, 1050, 14, 1, 3/5, 1.25 (NOT in the right order)

Math looks right - remember im not that great at math - village = stable environment and realm = possibility Do these ring a bell?

yeah i actually got those exact numbers (I think except for 1.25). hopefully the guessing gods will be on my side. i also got, for the last 3 grid-in questions. -1.5 (I am pretty sure this is right), 9 (other choices were 1,3), and either 3/4 or 1/4 of the circle shaded in i can't remember.

hoever, i am an idiot because the pressure got to me and i just could not focus hard enough on the first grid in question to get it right.

it was like Y(Y-W)=?

or something like that.

total brain meltdown... agghh....

i also got all of those vocab words right.

i used princeton review hot 100 words and none of them came up. luckily i remember a bunch of words form vocab quizzes a year ago... fancy that

did anyone get an answer for a vocab question that included the word apropos?

for realm i got familiarity.

i don't see why he would say possibility, i don't see how that makes sense.

Umm I got different answers for all 3 of those multiple choice ones: I got -.5, 3, and 1/5 of the circle shaded in...

For the one that what like Y(Y-W) or whatever, it was 1 (it was slightly harder then usual for a question #1).

I did get a vocab one that had apropos in it.
