November SAT Early Decision

Hi guys,

I'm applying ED to Cornell this fall. However, I took the subject tests and scored very low (Math Level 1 - 660 & Biology - 640). I barely studied. My SAT I score is 2300 though.

I was wondering if Cornell accepts November SAT scores in time for ED application review.
The website says admissions usually does.

Thank you!!

Someone please answer!!

You answered your own question. Their website says they usually do. To be safe, I’d call or email them.

My guess is that they have the word “usually” there due to weather and other unforeseeable occurrences. There’s such a small margin of time between when they need to see them and when you take them that if anything goes wrong you’re out of luck. I know here in New England 2 years ago we had that crazy snow storm and scores weren’t sent in time because of it. So under normal circumstances you should be fine.

Can anyone who has had experience with this predicament offer any insight?

Bump10char

Ehm the delay really isn’t due to weather, it’s due to College Board’s negligence. Last year my October scores were delayed because CB hadn’t marked my script yet whereas everyone in my centre had received their scores. However, I got it in about 10 days and I made it for ED, since it was October. Unless this happens to you in November, you will be fine.

What happens if some unfortunate event were to happen? I mean what if u apply and they dont get ur SAT II scores. What then?

You can just tell them to defer you to the RD session.

Is there any way to counter this from happening or to ensure that admissions knows that you are taking a November test?

Bumpbumpbump

Honestly if i were you, I would just take them in october

Bump10char

bumping this back up. Cornell is not much help of this, of course; they mention that it might not make it (which is their way or protecting themselves in the few events it might not make it). I’d love to email, but I also need to register tonight for the test.

I have a 2110, and I most genuinely believe near 100 points or so can be added to this on the November test. Can someone accepted to Cornell ED who did a November SAT ring in on this? Thanks!

Not a student, but a couple of comments for you.

 1. The extended power outages that resulted from ‘Super Storm Sandy’ caused the cancellation and/or postponement of the Nov exam date in many towns in the NY/NJ/CT area last year. Some schools rescheduled for the third Sat in Nov and some moved the test date to Dec. Now, this same weather event is unlikely to occur again, but things can happen.
 2. Even if you are not accepted to Cornell ED, wouldn’t an increased score help your RD application to other schools?

I considered 1 and last year’s case study, and well, being a New Englander, anything can happen. But lets assume the weather is more…normal for this, right?

An increased score can/will increase my RD app. But here’s the question I should’ve asked: Take the SAT in Nov late fee, or December Reg fee (27.50 in an Asian household…is big money. Not to mention in Nov, I’ll be tired, busy, and unfocused whereas December I might be more fresh).

Ultimately, I chose to elect for the Nov SATI. Cornell ED, I’ve got my eyes on you!!!
