you could always bring your heavy jacket once you come back from break. However, deffinitly pack sweaters, long sleeve shirts, light jackets etc. for up until that point. It can get somewhat nippy in November.

It's not so bad, I'd definitely bring at least a coat or heavy-ish jacket. By early November you'll probably be wearing a sweater and long pants most if not all the time.

bring socks, they're important

Don't worry. The Freshman 15 provides a welcome layer of insulation.

depends on where you're from. although, since you're asking this question i'm going to assume you're from a place where the climate is usually warmer, and not a place like Chicago or New England.

it's not that bad here overall, but it can get very cold in the winters. however, it can also be uncharacteristically warm in the winter and cold in the spring as well. bring some heavier clothes just in case, but be prepared for warmer weather too.

You are unlikely to find sustained cold weather here before Thanksgiving -- 2-3 days where it never gets above freezing, or indeed 24 hours where the temperature never gets above freezing. But there will almost certainly be some hard-frost nights in November, and at least a few days with temperatures in the mid-30s at some point or another. Halloween can be in the low 70s, but it can be in the low 40s, too. So . . . you don't need to bring sub-zero survival gear, but you will be happy to have a warm coat and some layers to wear.
