No regrets. This college app process has been more successful than I could have ever imagined, and I will end up at either a great Ivy League school or a large public with the best merit scholarship in the nation.

A year ago, I could not have imagined I would be in this situation.

My regreat is having a 2.5 gpa through my first 2 years of high school. Too bad because i have a 3.1 through my last to. My options for schools would have been greatly increased. Filling out apps and researching schools made me realize how much i screwed up.

laughxindoors: My regrets are pretty much exactly the same as yours - right down to the math SAT score!

Ugh...everyone told me how stressful college apps would be but i didn't believe them...now I understand. A few months ago, I went into this whole process happily, and now I'm coming out of it more depressed and confused than ever

I started writing my common app essay during the summer so the whole process wasn't that stressful especially considering the fact that I only applied to 4 schools. So for future applicants start early, especially considering the fact that I went through a BUNCH of essay revisions to get to the last one.

Applying to 21 colleges. I now realize how ridiculous that was, especially with mid-year reports, and interviewers asking you which colleges you applied to.

Junior year. Skipped pre-calc for AP Calc, took three science classes in one year (AP Bio, AP Physics, and Anatomy), got addicted to an MMORPG for three and a half months, and spent way too much time dealing with high school drama. GPA dropped down to a 3.77 from a 3.93.

Some of my essays really were filler and protocol essays. I read through them and realized how completely cheesy there were. Guess I'm not going to about 14 of my 21 for sure now.

Not starting to think about college until late sophomore year.

Not applying for any junior year scholarships or research camps.

Being too Asian.

the fact that you were able to have a 3.77 while playing an MMO is amazing IMO. I played Counter-Strike: Source my first 2 years of HS. I applied to my schools with a 3.42

^^ Yeah not applying early is really killing me right now. All of my friends have gotten into at least one school and I still haven't heard back from any of mine.

I regret not applying to more schools but I was only able to afford to visit one and I really didn't feel comfortable applying to a school without visiting. Now, I realize that happens ALL the time. Also wish I had more of a rapport with my English teachers. Got really lucky having a great social science teacher this year that I had three classes with. Had I not had him, I have absolutely no idea who could honestly write a good rec for me.

I think colleges cheat themselves when they don't allow some late applications at the end of the summer. They should allow that loophole, but also explain that they expect to get some pretty great applicants and that the competition will be tougher for those few last-minute spots.

People change, and you can be very sure that high school seniors change and are more knowledgeable at the end of the college app process than they are at the beginning. I think this should be both acknowledged and allowed for by having a few spots still available at the very end of the summer at colleges beginning perhaps with #30 on the USNWR rankings.

i regret not applying to Bowdoin because they're SAT optional. I think that my GPA and other things would have given me a slight chance. I was too afraid of rejection.
I wish that I applied to Brown...
On another note, I like all of the colleges I applied to!
