everyone gets this email right? hahah im so silly.. i thought it was an email insinuating i'm in =(

Now that you've applied to UC Berkeley...

The staff here at Berkeley Summer Sessions want to wish you the best of luck with your application and let you know about an exciting summer program we have for incoming freshmen.

We call it Freshman Summer Session and it’s all about giving you a chance to take a few classes, get to know the campus, make some friends, and even save money.

Get a seat
In the fall and spring semesters, required courses fill up quickly. In summer, you'll have much better access to popular required courses.

Get a head start
Beat the fall rush and get a head start on orienting yourself to UC Berkeley.

Make friends
During the program’s kickoff orientation, you’ll begin to make friends and build a community with your freshmen peers.

Save money
You'll be charged UC student rates rather than Summer Sessions visiting student rates.

Check out our Web site at summer.berkeley.edu/freshman for all the details.

Good luck! We hope to see you on campus this summer!
Freshman Summer Session

"I loved meeting other freshmen students in the summer session. I made lifelong friends and had the best summer ever living with other incoming freshmen. The outdoor excursions were also very fun in learning about the Bay Area and meeting new people. The program helped me get accustomed to college life."

it is kinda misleading since its "we want to tell you about an exciting program for incoming freshman." it seems like something they'd send AFTER ppl were accepted...

yeah how depressing i got it too

whereas ' best of luck with your application ' says that this doesn't mean we're in =.='' sigh...more to the point anyone apply and not get one? I got one all the way in hk =P so not just a state thing.

It is a hint because now they cannot say you have been accepted.

I got one all the way in Dubai.

LF61, so ur saying it DOES mean something and not every1 got it?

it means you have been accepted.

does anyone notice that it says "incoming freshman" rather than "freshman" or "raising freshman"?

yea, i noticed the "incoming freshman" part which i thought was kinda strange...and could possibly be misleading

someone call them up ? hah i was kind of surprised when I read the email because I am OOS and my stats are kinda low so I didn't expect anything from Berkeley at all......if this is like a 'likely letter', ill be happy =]

i got it too. it sucks that i'm almost certain of not going to Berkeley. OOS= no money D:

i got it too...but let's try this

Did anybody NOT get it?

lol, b/c if everyone got it, i think we could rule out the "likely letter" scenario

haha agreed...

I got one, too.

I think most people got it. (we were discussing this on the Indian thread and everyone who'd applied received it.)

but why would Berkeley send these letters out to people who do not qualify? If you registered now for the summer program, and found out you didn't get in in april, why would you still go to this summer program if you'll be attending other colleges ??

If we get the e-mail i think it means we are def. accepted. I mean the program is a SUMMER program which means we've been accepted and they want us to come and experience berkeley life before we go there. Also, it talks about getting a seat since the required courses fill up quickly. So through this summer program, they want us to sign up for them rite?

and it DOES say incoming freshman.... I don't think they are gonna send these to ppl who are rejected rite?

...

o0o0o0o0

if u actually click on the website http://summer.berkeley.edu/mainsite/freshman/ IT SAYS...

An Award Winning Program
The Freshman Summer Session at UC Berkeley is an award winning program that GIVES INCOMING FRESHMAN a chance to take a few classes, get to know the campus and facilities, make some new friends, and even save a little money.
:) SO WE ARE ACCEPTED IF WE GOT THIS E-MAIL RITE??
