did anyone have as much fun writing this essay as i did??? i wished they gave us more space for it. i wrote about all my trivial passions! :D

I definitely did not have fun writing it lol. I spent august and september writing about 10 essays I didnt like before I finally came up with the one i stuck with. Then, I spent all of october trying to make it somewhat good. I HATE writing.

edit: oh woops i thought u were talking about the main essay

this is what I wrote:

I study mechanisms of gene expression and regulation using computational and experimental approaches. I also develop algorithms for the identification of genes in genomic sequences and other applications in genomics. A unifying goal of my research is to understand the rules of RNA splicing specificity: how the precise locations of introns and splice sites are identified in primary transcripts. A major current effort is to develop computational methods to identify splicing enhancer and repressor motifs and to test the function of these motifs using in vivo splicing assays. I continue to develop improved methods for identifying genes in eukaryotic genomes, and have started to work on computational methods for identifying microRNAs and predicting their functions. I am also using a combination of computational and experimental methods to study alternative splicing, a common mechanism of gene regulation in vertebrates.

you do that for fun?
thats beast

I wrote about being a pimp and how hard it is to hustle in my hood with all the competition, and how I was interested in MIT because I heard there were a lot of master cooks there that I could work with to make my product.

I wrote about composing music, even though I have barely any music in the rest of my app. It came out really well though.

Sometimes you just gotta take a break from relaxing on the beach surrounded by women, and unwind with a little RNA splicing specificity.... ahh life's rough

kamikaze and river, you are my new two best friends hahahaha

ps today is my birthday :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY collegelyfe4me!

thank you!!!!!!!

My son wrote about being involved in programming a popular mod for Civ 4.

tell your son to work on a mod that will actually make the Civ 4 multiplayer mode work for me! It rarely lets me connect to anyone cuz i have a router or something. X-(

You have to forward your ports accordingly, google that =P

i worte about cooking - tried to make it humorous... hopefully they'll like it

Spend time with friends.

Happy birthday man. Hope you didn't spend it doing apps :D.

I wrote an humor article about how to get girls and described how to do the pimp slap...still trying to decide whether or not I should send it in. I'm not kidding. My friends think it's hillarious but they all think it's over the top.

heres mine, a little nerdy:

Helping to design and build the robot for my high school's team as part of the New York City Science Olympiad's Robot Ramble event is something that I loved to do and did for fun for the first time in 2006. We had two team members, and our job was to build a robot to pick up and drop objects into a box in the least time possible. Our strategy was to use a broom system to pile the objects and throw them into the box. In the end, our robot placed 3rd, but we've already started designing a better robot with a new secret strategy for this year's competition, when I'll be captain of the team. My dream is to gain enough expertise to make a good showing someday in MIT's 2.007 robotics competition.

Kamikazewave, I would reaaaalllly like to read that article! If you want to, can u PM it to me?

Hehe, @kamikazewave... I kinda really, really, wanted to have fun with one of my applications last year... so in applying to a school that asked how technology could be used to improve our society, I wrote about how we should gather up stupid people into stupid people concentration camps and then force mandatory education of current events and science relevent to environmental awareness.

Needless to say, I didn't get in. But daaamn was that a fun essay to write.

Lesson learned: the words "concentration camp" should appear NOWHERE in your essay. ;).

yo groundhawk
make nationals, well be seeing u there
this years the year
were going all da way
