I applied for the NROTC nursing scholarship. I have to get accepted into a nursing program at one of the schools I applied to in order to use the scholarship. I didn't choose nursing as any of my majors for the colleges I applied to because I didn't decide on NROTC nursing until after I applied to colleges. So will I be disqualified for the scholarship because I'm not in nursing, or would I be able to change majors after I get accepted into the school?

Here’s how it works. You apply to the nursing program in each of the 5 schools you listed. If you are fortunate enough to be selected for the scholarship they Navy will tell you which of the 5 you are going to. If you are not accepted at that school (the processes are separate) then no scholarship. If you are not a nursing major at that school then no scholarship.

The Navy tells you what to do, not vice-versa. The nursing scholarship program selection is not the same as the regular scholarship selection process. You can’t go back and forth. In order to get the scholarship you have to be a nursing major on day 1. No other option.

Are you required to go to one of the schools you’ve already applied to? Can you use the scholarship at any school with a nursing program?

Some schools don’t let you into the nursing program until you’re a junior. During your frosh/soph years you take pre-req classes.

Are you a strong student?

which schools did you apply to ? What major did you select when you applied? You probably can change your major long before classes start.

Mom2collegekids, with the Navy ROTC Nursing scholarship you have to be a nursing major from day 1. The Navy awards the scholarship to 1 of the 5 schools the OP listed in the scholarship app. The scholarship is not portable. If the OP is awarded the scholarship to school X it has to be used at school X if they get in. He/she could request the Navy change the scholarship to one of the other 4 schools. It will only be granted if there is room in the unit at the school and if the school is cheaper (usually).

The OP would have to change their major at school X before the scholarship is awarded. Some schools will allow that for nursing, some have different admissions requirements.

The answer to the OP is no nursing major at the school the Navy selects then no scholarship.

One of the schools I applied to is the University of Washington and their nursing program is 2 years. I would have to apply to the nursing program after I complete the prerequisites. If I get the scholarship and get accepted into the school, there is still no guarantee that I will get into the nursing program. So how does that work?
