I'm applying for math. I'm guessing the reason that there are only 18 positions is financial. And yes, March is far away...and even then we won't know for sure. I'd like some of the same answers, if anyone knows more about the Stokes Program.

electrical engineering doesnt necessarily have to do with computers.

weeeell. I took Intro to Comp Sci (sophy year). AP Comp Sci. (junior yr) and am taking Systems Programming in C and Computer Graphics Programming this year. That's all the computer programming courses in the school cept one.

computer hardware -took a computer engineering course. Didn't take electronics or CISCO networking(decided to opt for acrylic painting :P and the teacher for CISCO was same for computer engineering. he was a pain.)

I am a finalist from 2005's applicant pool and I'm still waiting for my job offer thing. Heh, I didn't know it was so competitive either until they flew everyone over to Baltimore for interviews. Expect long periods of time (read: months) when you won't hear from them at all. But just when you start thinking they forgot about you or that you were rejected, they contact you again. Yeah, they've been torturing me for over a year...

I actually applied last year, as a high school student, and plan on applying next year as a sophomore. However, what kills me about last year's application is that i discovered a while after I recieved the rejection letter that I had used the SSN on the application...

So, hopefully no-one else made the same mistake as me.

Well it would seem that you cannot edit posts, so, here is what i meant to say: "...after I recieved the rejection letter that I had used the wrong SSN on the application...

just had my phone interview, very nice woman. didn't know grandparents were considered immediate family though, since all of mine are still in taiwain.

the only drawback of the stokes program is that i'd have to move to the east coast after graduating, which is something i'm not so sure of -- i love the west coast

I got an email as well. About the moving thing, think about it -- if you didn't have to move, they wouldn't have to make the program so good. They're trying to lure talented people in. And I'm just hoping they want me enough to lure me.

hm...congrats to everyone who got an email? or did they email all the complete packages (as opposed to apps with things missing)? hm...so is this like semis? because that would be awesome (i doubt it though)! apparently there were like 30 semifinalists last year and half of them got the job. we should ask people from last year. but i doubt they visit this site anymore. lol. and they're probably using college email accounts now. sigh ok, good luck on interviews, for people who haven't done them yet! and those of you who have...want to tell the rest of us what they asked? though they probably read this so if you do tell us, they deliberately won't ask those questions. hehehe. ^_^

moving isn't that big of an issue for me, though. i live in the south and i'm going to cornell (in ny) for college, so i'm going to have to get used to change anyway, right? yay!

has anyone been to the building? i visited the museum and then we drove around for a bit. it seems to be in the middle of nowhere, which, actually, is my type of place to live (don't ask), but...like where are the houses? i mean where would we live? hm...

man, i can't wait to start training and stuff too! eek!!! ^_^ and live in my own apartment over the summer...maybe have a roommate who works in my department...ya...

I figure I'd come and contribute to the community. I don't remember the statistics exactly, but there were about 800 or so applicants; around 70 are semifinalists, and probably less than two dozen are chosen as finalists.

I say probably because (reading from the responses in this thread) there are people who don't get final acceptances until a few months or even a year later after the first "round" gets picked. not to put anyone down, there isn't exactly a second round per-say, some people get delayed due to other reasons than the interview.
