I’M GOING TO CHENGDU!!!
hello, congratulations to all finalists! nervous china summer semi here wondering if finalist notifs are sent out consecutively after initial notifs start? do they just send them all out in one day? how much longer can i realistically have hope to become a finalist? would be very grateful for any help or answers! D:
Congrats to all! Sounds so exciting!
Parent of a year long Chinese semi here. Wishing that he applied for summer now as there are so many more slots!
@SoundCheck1 Year is generally easier to get into. There are more spots for the summer program but significantly less people apply for the year.
That is good to hear!
SoundCheck1 Did your son already do a summer previously or did he straight out apply for the year?
There is a Facebook group chat for finalists going to Chengdu! Let me know if you’re going to Chengdu and would like to be added!
@CalBearsMom he applied straight to full year. This will be his gap year experience. Fingers crossed.
if you didn’t receive a notification on the same day, is it basically guaranteed that you got rejected? I’m feeling pretty down right now.
hey, when did you get your finalist notify for russian summer?
@lsrapp hey, when did you get your notification for russian summer?
Are you guys going to be with a host family the whole time? I’ve heard that sometimes you stay in dorms or something like that for part of the program and with a host family for part of the time. Mine said I’ll be with a host family “for the duration of the program”.
@saxophonewizard It really depends on what organization you end up going with.
@concertsloth I’d love to be added to the Chengdu Facebook group chat
I’m a China semi-finalist. How much later do rejection notifications take to come out normally? Are they going to send out more acceptances?
@saxophonewizard my son is going to Xiamen with the U of Delaware. He’ll be with a host family for two weeks but looks like he’ll be in dorms most of the time.
@SpheryCube Summer rejection notifs come out after every program’s acceptances have been sent out (last year rejections were sent the day after korean summer notifs were sent out)
A question for an academic program for China. How many host families do you live with for the duration? Do you live in a college dorm also?
Is there a facebook group for China finalists (for no specific location).
This isn’t really NSLIY related, but has anyone done STARTALK on this forum? I’ll be applying to the Arabic ones since I’ll probably be rejected by NSLIY. To the people that have done it… what was the price and overall experience like?
