woot ! got in to the china summer program !!! :DDD
good luck everyone else.

Ck those emails…our daughter just got acceptance 4 China summer!!! Good luck to all!!!

Congrats to those accepted. Do you think they emailed all the Chinese people today? I know that China has the most scholarships and acceptances by far…maybe they’re splitting notifications into 2 groups/days?? This may be wishful thinking though.

Im going to china!!!

Quick question, to those who got accepted, where did your acceptance email come from? For example, was the sender “<a href="mailto:nsliy@americancouncils.org”>nsliy@americancouncils.org" or was it from AFS, Iearn or someother email address?? I ask this because last time AFS tried to email me, i never got the email and they had to call to contact me. I did get that medical release form email sent from NSLI though. This is why I am interested in who sent the email. Please respond if you know.

My email was from nsliy

Yeeeeeeah!! Congratulations to those going to China, it is a beautiful country

I’m checking my email every minute! Is it pointless? DId they already notify everyone who’s going to China…AHHHHHH -_-

Was anyone who got accepted from MA, or from the east coast? For those of you who didn’t hear yet, what states are you from?

@mmchin:
I wrote an email to NSLI-Y a little while back asking about the robberies in Russia and how students would be protected. This is their reply:
"Thank you for your e-mail. We understand your and your parent’s concerns, but please note that the safety of our students is our number one priority. None of our Russia programs have ever been in Moscow, and there are also no plans to have a program in Moscow in the near future as well. I can’t tell you the exact locations for our Russian program as we are finalizing those details for this year’s programs. If you are selected for a scholarship, you will be notified of these details. I can, however, tell you that the following are cities where Russian participants have been hosted: Kazan, Kirov, Gatchina, Krasnador, Ust-Labinsk, and Korenovsk.

In regards to safety, please note that the U.S. Department of State, in consultation with its embassies and missions overseas, approved all NSLI-Y host countries. The State Department and NSLI-Y Consortium continuously monitor events in host countries and are in contact with U.S. embassies and missions. All NSLI-Y students are registered at the U.S. Embassy or consulate in the host country. Students receive safety-awareness training and are well-oriented before departing from the U.S. to know what sort of risks are present in the host country and ways to handle potential problems. Living with a host family or in a closely monitored dormitory setting also increases student safety. There is also a resident director or a local coordinator in the participant’s host community, to aid students. If there is an issue, this on-sight NSLI-Y staff person, is trained on the procedure he or she needs to take to ensure the safety of the students. Also a mobile phone is provided to all participants in order to increase communication."

Assuming that they value each student in every country the same, everyone should be fine.

Congrats Leigh! If I don’t get an email by tomorrow for China, I will be stuck with Korea as my last chance. AAAAAHH!

Congrats to all of you going to China this summer. It will be an amazing experience.

For those still waiting, it can’t be long now. If I keep saying that, maybe I will begin to believe it!

Chewy thanks for that! Its interesting they provide cell phones, I wish you luck waiting I know it must be driving you insane…

Ughh… I really hope they are still sending out more China emails. That was my first choice and I haven’t heard anything yet. I’m slowly losing hope :(

I really hope that they haven’t sent out all the China emails yet…It was my first choice as well, but if I don’t get China, then I’m hoping for Korea!

jwjw112, yes. im from the east coast. New york. well maybe they’re sending them out at different times? dont give up hope all of you ! :)

Well there has been a lot of things lately in all countries such Russia.
But they are still allowing kids to go so Im pretty sure its safe.

I don’t think they sent out all the Chinese acceptances yesterday so don’t give up hope

This is so frustrating!
I need to tell colleges what I am doing for my gap year within the next few days but I still haven’t heard anything from NSLI-Y!
I wish they would stick to deadlines…

I got an email today at 2:18 PM pacific time that I got into the china program, so they’re probably sending out acceptances in groups or something
