NSLI-Y Program.

I feel I should assume that I didn’t get into the China program. Time to rely on Korean, and if I don’t get into that, I probably became an alternate or not chosen T_T

After this weekend (really now…) I can safely assume that I didn’t get into the China program, Korea is also my last hope. I wonder what they look for/what I can do to improve my chances next year? Then again, there was a student from the previous year at the interview session that I attended, and he told us he was on the wait-list and he got off–apparently there were quite a few kids there that had origianlly been wait-listed…So we shouldn’t give up all hope :)

So Russia and China is assumed to be finished?
Darn… Well good luck and congrats to the others
It’s gonna be a swell experience! …

I don’t think China summer applicants should give up hope - from what I’ve seen, people who are going with AFS, iEarn, and the University of Delaware have gotten emails. That still leaves at least one sponsor (American Councils, plus any other smaller programs) whose students haven’t been notified.

The list of sponsors and # of spots for each program is here: [NSLI-Y 2010 and 2011 Language Programs](http://exchanges.state.gov/youth/programs/nsli/progdetails.html)

Even if you do not get your first option, there is always your second and third. China is the (most) competitive program, and there are tons of deserving applicants.

Is anyone who’s been accepted been from Massachusetts??

I also applied for the nsliy program. It is killing me having to wait. I think the worst part is hearing that you find out on a “rolling basis!” so does that mean like mid april or end of april. If anyone hears let me know I will love you always and forever. (I’m hoping to get Arabic but I’d be excited if I got in period) … And now my heart is racing o jease but I check everyday too! no worries:)

jackson_6@verizon.net if you hear!!

I dont think it matters where you are from

Definitely not. I’ve rummaged through many sites, and people from all over have been receiving acceptance emails for the same program around the same time.

Are people being notified of rejections as well as acceptances? If people have received rejection letters, its not as bad that i/we havent been notified. If rejectees aren’t being notified yet, then…

They send out rejection letters after acceptences/waitlists.

So Russian and Chinese has been notified? Has any other language heard back yet?

Hindi have been notified.

ok great thanks!

What bothers me about the AFS log-in thing is that I’m going with AFS and it doesn’t seem to recognize my e-mail…

Are we supposed to log into AFS? I thought we couldn’t do any of the Culture Trek stuff until we were given a password, or do we get the password ourselves?

regarding the AFS log-in thing; I would disregard it - I’m thinking they had our info from a few years back; sorry I confused everyone.

Leigh - I’m pretty sure they e-mail it to you, but I’m rather eager to get it!

Goalpost - that would make sense but you weren’t the only one able to log-in! Others were capable as well

Sore, try using your parents’ email that you put into the application.

On a side note, tomorrow is a Monday that I’m actually looking forward to!

If we got the aceptance e mail and don’t have a passport yet do they help us get it? Or do we just go about getting it on our own? Thanks
