CHEWY!!! Awesome news! I truly hope your school can work around this, as it is an amazing opportunity. My state has an online high school - does PA have this as well? It might be a way to get some credits while you’re away if they give you any problems.

I am so happy for you! And, of course, we DID tell you so. :):):)

lol… I feel the same way! We must be one of the last (if not the last)program to be notified. But hopefully Arabic will be worth the wait? Good luck

Hello everyone I’ve been reading all of your posts everyday for the past four months. I too applied for the NSLI-Y Program. However, I did not join this forum or post because I was afraid that if I was not accepted I would never want to return back to this helpful site. Yesterday was my birthday and I just received the best birthday present ever today…

I was selected as a finalist for Korea Fall 2010!!

Thank you all for giving me hope and encouragement even when you never knew I existed.

I totally got in for the Korean semester!!! That means I will definitely be seeing some of you guys at Sogang over the summer.
I was on my cellphone in the computer lab and went on the internet… checked my email and BAM! I almost screamed… almost… but i looked at the guys sitting around me and thought that maybe they would think I had lost my mind. So instead I took a deep breath and ran out of the room haha. So they still think i’m a little crazy… but hey… I GOT IN YAY!
I’ve been reading this forum for ever! Finally wrote something good on here!

So they’re still sending out some acceptances for the Korean/Chinese programs? I applied for Russia, China and Korea summer semester and haven’t heard anything yet. Considering the amount of people that seem to have already found out about those programs for the summer, I think I might’ve been rejected. It’d be nice if they sent out rejection emails first… just so those that are still waiting don’t think they’ve been accepted. And vice versa. This “rolling basis” thing isn’t helping anyone’s nerves. And it’d be nice if they told us ASAP as, like many people on here, I have to make plans for the summer soon, and this would make a huge change in my plans if I go or not…

And congrats to those that got in, sounds like loads of fun!

Also: when they asked if you were willing to go to another country that you did not list, does that mean there is a possibility of being accepted to a program in a country that you didn’t apply for? That I found confusing…

School has cleared me. Apparently, they’re really friendly with Korea for some reason. Now, I just need to confirm my spot in my teams and clubs before I send everything through the mail to NSLI.

I will be blogging (and keeping video logs) if I go.

I’m totally keeping a blog too!
I think it’s fun that way and it lets friends and families know what you are to. It’s also cool to just have it to look back on (even better with pictures, videos, music).

Chewy - Other than me hearing from NSLI today, yours was the best possible news regarding your school. What a great opportunity; it’s good that they recognize what a benefit this will be to you over time, and they should know that your selection will reflect well on the school also!
