@tigermomof3, Not quite. If anyone declines, the offer goes to an alternate who has already been informed they are an alternate. It’s not unheard of for alternates to make it to finalist status, but it is, I think, unheard of for someone to get no notification at all and then for all alternates to e exhausted so that the unnotified person gets to finalist status.
Exactly. If you applied for Russian or Hindi summer and have not yet received your email, you can safely assume you’ve not received the scholarship or an alternate status. 
NSLI-Y’s “rolling” acceptances are “rolling” by duration and language, so for example, all russian summer acceptances come out at the same time, then all Hindi summer acceptances, etc. for all languages and durations

While I have friends who have received alternate notifications for the Indonesian and Persian summer programs, I have seen no sign of Indonesian/Persian finalists online. While I do doubt that NSLI-Y would send out alternate/finalist emails on different dates, it is highly unusual for NSLI-Y to release notifs on a Wednesday, so if anyone gets any updates, do let me know!
@neurochic I cannot speak for the Kirov program, but during my summer in Rabat there were two vegetarians, (one of whom I believe was vegan, and the other who had celiac.) While Morocco incorporates a very meat-based diet, neither student had a difficult time, as program coordinators spoke to their host families about their diets and ordered special dishes for the two students while on excursions. NSLI-Y staff are very responsive to student needs, includng dietary, religious, health, and lifestyle needs of students!

@nsrdhlk I just got word that both Persian acceptance and alternate emails came out today some time in the late afternoon. But either way, I believe in you! Anyone who had the guts to apply to NSLI-Y will do amazing thing. Best of luck, dear!

Korean finalist notifications tend to come out in the last couple days of March. Last year they came out on the 30th.
