@jninja88 I’m planning on applying for the 2016 summer program learning Arabic in either Morocco, Jordan, or Oman. Any recommendations on which to apply for?
@jninja88 I’m applying to Hindi year! I just want to application to come out i’m so impatient hahaha
@nickmont I’m not sure if i fully understand your question but you just apply for the language, so you have no say in what country you are eventually placed in.
@itstricky whoa nice! how do you get your high school credits done during the year while studying abroad?
@nickmont awesome! When you apply, I’m pretty sure you can list your country preferences along with language preference. For example, you would list the countries and languages you want to apply for starting from your first choice to third choice.
@itstricky Nice that will be awesome! Sorry I thought you were able to choose your language as well as they country you go to when you apply. So you are just randomly placed in one of the countries if you get in? Thanks for letting me know!
@nickmont Are you studying Arabic right now or are you planning to start from scratch if you go to the summer program?
Hi everyone! The new application is up on the NSLI site. Good luck!
@baxter WOHOO! It’s finally up! But I tried clicking the link but it didn’t work? Did it for you?
Ahhhh, finally! Time to get to work. SO GLAD APPS ARE FINALLY OPEN
Hooray!!! It’s finally out!! Good luck everyone!!!
@jninja88 No I haven’t studied Arabic in the past, I was going to start from scratch! Hopefully I still can get in despite that fact!
I just clicked the preview so far and it worked.
@nickmont Nice! I was thinking of doing that too with Korean as my second choice. Have you started the application?
@baxter did you start the application? What programs are you going for?
Hey all! I’ve been considering applying for the summer program in Korea, but I have a quick question for y’all…
I’m really strict on myself with going to the gym (as in weight room). Are there opportunities for physical activity during NSIL-Y? Besides being gone for my last summer with my family, going to the gym is also important to me :P… Geez, if only I had known about this earlier, haha XD…! There wouldn’t be so many cons >_>…
Thanks!
@Newdle hey! Omg I have the exact same concern. I need to keep up with my weight room sessions while abroad
@jninja88 Yeah! I have filled most of the basic information out and now need to start to work on my essays! Have you started yet?
@jninja88 Yeah I have filled out almost all of the basic information in the application and now I just need to start working on the essays! Have you started?
@nickmont Same! I finished most of the basic info, just need to do essays too. I also have the forms and stuff to mail in. It says the postmark date for the participant agreement is November 12. We can mail it in well before that date right? I want to send it early, it makes me feel less rushed haha
@jninja88 My son is applying for China- probably for the summer, perhaps the academic year. He is going into his fourth year of Mandarin and loves it! He’ll start the application this weekend. He has already asked his Mandarin teacher for a recommendation. I think it is going to be hard for him to write the essays since they are so short! The letter to the family has to include quite a lot of info!
Oops I didn’t mean to post that twice haha
Hello everyone! Just letting you all know that I am a Russian summer alumn, so feel free to ask any questions! I love talking about NSLI-Y so don’t hesitate at all…
