NU vs. UIUC Engineering

Hello I have narrowed down my options to Northwestern and U of I and I am looking for some guidance. I have been accepted into the Bioengineering/ Biomedical Engineering programs for both schools and I’m wondering if price is negligible, which school is best set up for its student’s success? Which school has the overall better Engineering program and will be worth my time for undergrad?

@MarcoContreras - Congratulations on the acceptances. My D was faced with the exact same decision a few years ago - though with a different engineering discipline. She resolved the issue by calling NU as an admitted student, and setting up an appointment to talk with a Prof in her field. (You might be able to do the same over the phone and talk to both schools, and compare and contrast answers.)

The Prof had done his undergrad at UIUC and Grad work at NU, so that was very helpful, and the take home point - to her - was that NU has smaller classes, therefore, more discussion with profs, TAs and other students, and fewer large lecture halls. She decided on NU, and was happy she did. BTW - that Prof she talked to is now a Dept Chair- so good for him!

Good luck with your decision!

Totally two different feels to the school. Think the programs are a wash. UIUC would technically be the better program for engineering. Northwestern might be ranked higher in biomedical. UIUC unless you have merit would seem to be cheaper. Which atmosphere feels better to you?
