Number of times taking ACT

Hello. I am interested in going to UPenn, however I did not get a great ACT score. After months of preparation, I only improved my score by one point to a 30. I understand that UPenn wants a score around 33. The frustrating part is that I am able to get that score on practice tests at home but struggle once in the testing environment. Does anyone have advice on how to relax more during the test? I am taking it another time in June. If I don’t get the score that I want, is it worth it to take a break then start back up again in the fall? I have been doing test prep since September. Will it hurt me if UPenn sees that I took the act 4 times (I know colleges usually just prefer 3 times)?

If you don’t submit all 4 scores, Penn won’t find out. I know a kid who took the ACT 7 times and got into his top choice school (Idk how many he actually submitted - probably one or two).

As far as relaxing more, I wish you best of luck but don’t have any particularly good advice.

Have you tried the SAT? You may be better suited to that. The time constraints aren’t as tight.

You can also request that ACT delete your scores if you do better on later tests.
