I know that there is no "magical number" and most predictions are speculation, but I'm debating on whether or not to take the SAT for a 4th time
Last October I scored an 1850
In January I scored a 2000
and on June 3rd I got a 2090
My highest composite is a 2140/2400 and 1470/1600
I'm content with my verbal after increasing it 160 points
but I know I can improve my math score (currently 730)
Is it worth taking again with the risk of losing a lot of points in verbal to get a high composite score or should I stop at my 240 point increase

If you think that you can drastically improve then take it again. If not then just stick to what you already have.
Your scores seem fine.

Ooooh, colleges don't really like it when you do a 4th SAT. They think that 3 tries should be enough to improve your scores drastically.

But if you are confident that you can do well on your 4th SAT (and i mean REALLY well), then it should probably benefit you more than hurt you.

And btw, what school are you looking at applying to? Because if your current scores are good enough to get into your ideal school, then leave it. Should be fine!

^ stanford is right

my dream school is Rice where a 2200 is usually expected, but I would be content with my backup state schools if it doesn't work out

that means that you are 60 pionts short right?

yeah
I just dont want it to look bad taking it 4 times

I think that you should retake it; it's only 60 pionts. It can't be that hard to get.
