I’m an incoming freshman doing Summer Session II and I was wondering how many units you would recommend. I know that 15 units is recommended for each normal quarter, but considering the shorter time frame of the summer sessions and the fact that these are my first college classes, should the number be different?

If you can, just do one. That way you can focus and start your college GPA right. If anything at most two. IMO

I am in summer session I right now (becoming a Soph. coming this fall quarter), and it is not that bad. I am taking MAT16C and BIS2A (7 units total). Classes are a bit more unbearable because they are each 1hr40min but it’s really not that bad. I have plenty of time to go to the ARC, make lunch, dinner etc.
My roommate right now is taking two classes in which writing is required (ANT4, LIN 1) and he has just a bit more work than me, but it is doable.

btw I believe you do not receive Fin.Aid if you are enrolled in less than 6 units.

it really depends on what type of class. but especially as an incoming student who is not used to the quarter system and you’ll have to battle the 6 week summer session i suggest only 1, 4 unit class. typically…both summer sessions combined (I & II) are the equivalent of 1 quarter at davis (8 units for the first session and 8 for the second session).

You should take two classes… but it also depends on what classes you take! I’m taking one upper division Psych class right now, and it’s prettttty chill. Kind of wish I took another class, hehe. But I’m glad I get to have hella time to hang with friends and stuff so it still feels like summer! :)
